Texas A&M leaving Big 12
Re: Texas A&M leaving Big 12
Cost isn't my point. I've never once said it was about cost.
Money isn't an issue. The only time I referenced money was when I said the football teams are the only ones that get private planes.

then why bring up money in regards to travel? obvs it's about travel costs. and so what if only the football teams get private planes? it's still equal across the conference. Auburn, Bama, LSU, and A&M--football teams get private planes, the other sports do not. bfd.
how about this? we'll just agree to disagree. all us Aggies are asking for is a chance and an open mind.

I didn't bring up money. I just said it is about the travel..there's a lot more to travel than just the cost.
I'm happy to agree to disagree.
Again, it isn't anything against you Aggies as people or anything. But I know that once I give it a "chance", my opinion won't change. Because the distance and travel isn't going to change just through giving you a "chance".

oh right. you're talking about your husband being away from you more often/longer since he is a coach.
to which I say, sorry but tough titties. you married a coach.
my husband never gets to see me. I work nights as a nurse, including 2 weekends a month. he knew that when he married me, that would be the situation. as much as we don't like the situation, we don't complain about it because we knew the situation going into it.

Trust me I know there are is lot more sports outside of football. I actually quite am new to the football love. My first loves are soccer, baseball, basketball and track and field. Yes I am a sports junkie, who is just now appreciating football. So my first question about the SEC was how does that measure up for the rest of our sports. Honestly outside of baseball its weaker in every sport than what we face now. Which is a little unfortunate, but I understand.
But I think this is all getting side tracked. We are discussing facts that are not apart of your feelings on the situation. I can see why you aren't happy about us joining, and I think most of it is quite personal. I can't blame you there, when it means seeing your spouse less there is not much to rejoice in. I will say I look forward to playing Auburn and getting to know more about the SEC teams. We look forward to welcoming SEC fans into College Station, I hope you can make the trek down here sometime.
Yes I have maroon colored glasses, but I think the pros out weight the cons for the SEC. If that wasn't the case I don't think there is a chance in hell we would get the votes from the school already in the SEC.
Classy.
I'm not complaining, I'm saying that my opinion is: I don't want this to happen, I think there are better options out there.
Didn't realize I wasn't allowed to have my own opinion on the matter. And I'm also sure there are plenty of other people that, for whatever reason, agree with me.
Just like there are people that agree with you. But that's the beauty of it all...I don't have to agree with you. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

I'm pretty sure that when I first responded to this question, when having a discussion with gator, before y'all jumped in, I made it clear that some of my reasons for not wanting to see this happen were personal. But I have other reasons, too.
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
yeah I read that. I just can understand your personal reasons. and like I said I think if it wasn't a clear benefit for the SEC as a whole and for the individual teams there is no way we would get the votes to enter.
but if you want to continue to discuss the details and pros and cons I will gladly continue the discussion
I think I came off harsher than I intended and I'm truly sorry for that. Truly. intentions don't always translate in the written word. I meant that I do understand your frustrations. I honestly do, because I deal with them too.
However, as bug said, personal feelings are being thrown in, when most of us are trying to have a discussion based on facts, pros and cons. When personal feelings are brought in, that skews a discussion.
So again, I am sorry to offend or to hurt your feelings. It really was not my intention. As bug said, if we want to continue the discussion using facts and the pros and cons, then I would love to continue to discussing this subject. This is something that I am passionate about and have been for years now (not just football specifically, but wanting to change conferences).

I don't really have much of an opinion on the whole matter since I am an ACC fan (Clemson), but a few years back we played A & M and they are seriously the best fans. We won at home and they won at home and one of the fans even wrote to our campus newspaper about how much they thought Clemson fans were very welcoming and that they had a great time visiting. That shows a lot of class on both our parts. I do not really care for the SEC and I think A & M has too much class to be a part of it

Wow. Ok. I've seen you mention travel in this thread (which if I understood correctly, bothers you because you'd see your DH less), that it's not about $$$, and that we're not a good fit (because the $$$ doesn't matter and because of the travel). So I was honestly curious about what your other reasons were, besides $$ and travel/location.
<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home D
I never said fit was related to $$$ or location.

You honestly haven't said much of anything in this thread as to why you don't like it beyond your husband's travel schedule. But when it is mentioned that those feelings are understandable its "that is not all I care about." Well what else is it?
This is the only thing you have said. My original response with met with, "its more than that." So my questions are. Have you been to an Aggie football game? do you know the atmosphere here? Do you know the history we have with LSU and Arky?
let me guess your response is "its more than that"
How is it not all about travel then?I am not trying to get you to like us or want us in your conference. I just wanted to have a friendly discussion, but all I am hearing from your side it "its more than travel and money" ok then what?? Obviously a discussion is not what you want.
