Tips for Posting on D&R board?

I don't normally go to that board and I need help.  Is it OK to ask for ideas even though I am not an active participant or is that looked down on?

#1 picked out this bedspread for her bunk bed:

I will need another bedspread that compliments the bedspread above because I didn't want to do two of the same.  The bottom I want to be more like a couch or something to that effect.  here is what I didn't buy but probably should have:

And the color pallette I'm thinking of is this:

That is all I have to go on. The room is small with one window.  I could provide pictures of it too.  If I were to post something like this on D&R, would they give me some ideas as to what and how to paint the walls and any other decorative aspects?  Or would my post just get ignored because I don't post there?  I don't feel like posting a huge thing there and getting ignored so I'm asking here first.

And of course I shared here in case any of you have ideas.  Thanks!

Re: Tips for Posting on D&R board?

  • I have no tips for posting on D&R but wanted to say I love the bed spread she picked out! And I like the color palette you have chosen.

Is the second bedspread reversible? If so, I would consider having the lighter color face out since the bottom bunk can often be dark. I would definitely stick with a solid color, especially if you want it to function like a couch. Maybe put some patterned pillows along the wall edge of the bottom bunk to further the couch effect.

I had a bunk bed that I shared with my little sister. I always wanted a string of lights hung somehow from beneath the top bunk so it was easier for me to read. I thought, and still do, that would make an awesome cozy place to hang out.  If you pulled this off somehow you would make 1989 Hoektastic super jealous.

  • Go for it.  They will welcome you and give you ideas.

I LOVE the color pallette you picked.  Gorg.

Thanks for the advice!!!  That second bedspread seemed so common, I just thought I could find it at Kohl's and I looked through their entire website and couldn't find it.  But, I definitely like the idea of using a lighter color on the bottom.  Very good point.

I LOVE the lights idea.  That is normally where she reads prior to bed.  HOpefully we can make 1989 Hoektastic green with envy (of course in the shade that I have listed above ;-).

tee hee - Bet you can't guess where I got it from...

  • LOVE!

I'm excited for the new (someday) house and redoing bedrooms.  I plan to use Pinterest for colors when that day comes.

I like the bunk bed idea too.  As you can probably tell from my Pinterest boards.  ;)

For color pallettes, follow Angie Sandy or Angela Sandy.  You can find her on my "Color" board.  I repin a lot of her pallettes.  I don't know why I do that because I will never be able to use all of them!
