McGillicuddy13!!

I did the curly hair thing and it did not work!  Please ignore the uglyass wallpaper!  Also, please excuse the lack of make-up, I didn't leave the house today.

Here is what my hair usually looks like...

Pretty much straight as a board.

I washed my hair super early this morning and put it up in the band wet b/c that was easiest for me.  I left it like that all day and my hair was completely dry when I took it down.  This is what it looked like...

That was the curliest part, everything else was just kind of wavy.

I'm not sure what I did wrong.  I think part of it is because my hair is too long and too thick.

Re: McGillicuddy13!!

  • Hmm... thanks for the report!

I think if I had long hair, this is probably what it would look like. My hair is very curl-resistant, but I keep hearing people rave about this technique. Thanks for doing the experiment! :)

  • No problem.  It was kind of fun!  I was hoping to get better results, but I kind of figured that's how it would turn out.

  • I tried this once and it didn't work too well for me - my band didn't stay on.

I did do the sock bun curls, once. It didn't work very well, but I think I could tweak it and it'd work perfectly. My hair is super thick and long, so I think if I did two sock buns instead of one and made sure it was completely dry before rolling it (I left it a little too damp), then it'd work well. I keep thinking I'm going to try it again, but I have yet to do it.

  • I think I may try this over the weekend. My hair is much shorter and very fine. It's naturally wavy/frizzy, but we'll see how this goes.
  • I tried it too. I think I was too messy with mine when I did it, but I could see how it could turn out cute.

FYI, if you watch the video on the link in the original post, the girl says not to do it while your hair is wet. She said to make sure your hair is 80-90% dry. I'm not sure if it'll make a huge difference though.

Oh! And a tip for anyone who tries it. Make sure you put the band up in your hair in the front, NOT on your forehead. I had a big red line across my forehead all day :( It seriously took about 8 hours to go away hahaha
