Have you made a cake stand before? I will be making one for the first time and from what I've found it's pretty easy
- Plate
- Candlestick
- Epoxy
I'm having a hard time finding plates and candlesticks that I like! Just wondering if you have any experience making one.

Re: Tbears
I always am really suprised when I am paged....
I haven't. I have seen the tutes though, and I agree that it should be easy. One main reason why I haven't (just to do it) is because I just haven't had a reason to.
I have, however, looked extensively for plates (especially flat glass types) for my etching. I have seen ones that are acceptable for this type of thing at Dollar Tree and one of our grocery type stores (Meijer) for decent prices.
Are you looking for glass or ceramic type? Are you making more than one? If so, do you want them the same? So many questions, sorry... it's just my kinda thing.
I need 4 stands and am planning on putting an 8" round cake on each. I would like either glass or ceramic, but solid color with no designs. I will try the dollar tree and 99 Cent City...I should also try Ross.
I've always wanted to make a cake stand and I'm currently obsessed with the idea of making one, so I'll have to do it. Will post pics when I'm done.
Awesome! If you find a ceramic type that you like the look of, but not the pattern/color, you can paint them as well... I have seen that done too. Can't remember the type of paint though. You can also look for plates (probably not the candleholders though) at Goodwill type places for cheap if you are willing to look.
Can't wait for pictures!
