Lingerie Shower Tips Please!!!

Hi everyone,

I am hosting a lingerie shower for my sister next weekend. I want to keep it somewhat tasteful because her future MIL and SIL will be there and I don't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable.

As far as decor goes I have candles, flowers and a clothes line with panties and bras pinned onto it. For food I have a chocolate fountain, a mini candy bar and finger foods.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how I am going to keep everyone entertained. of course mingling, eating and opening gifts will take some time, but I feel like I need some games.

Anyone have ANY suggestions regarding decor, food, games, etc. I am slightly freaking out!

Thanks :)

  • I love putting out little advice cards at showers.  You could create a cute one in photoshop, print it out, and have everyone give her their best marriage advice.

Maybe you could creat some sort of signature drink and name it something to do with lingerie.  Put them in martini glasses.  Dip the rim of the glasses in karo syrup and then colored sugar to match you drink/theme.  They look so cute!

Play an I Spy game  where the winner gets a prize.  Play it throughout the shower.  Here is an example of a wedding one from Martha Stewart:

  • Are they real panties and bras, because that makes me a little squicky.  Maybe do paper cutouts and have people write advice on that?

I like the idea of a signature cocktail with fancy glasses.

  • If it's big enough, a photobooth would be a hoot! You can use props (non x-rated of course) boas, mirrors, tennis rackets (whatever sport she's into) capes, etc... If you have a tech savvy friend, I've heard it's easy to set your own up. You might even try finding an on-line tutorial. I know it's overdone, but I love the game where you make a wedding dress out of tissue paper. Very easy: Make teams, give them supplies of only tissue paper (either wrapping tissue or toilet paper or both and NOTHING ELSE) Then you set a timer for your desired time (15 minutesish). Then you have a mini fashion show (there will be one girl on each team who is just the model that you dress as you create) where the bride chooses her favorite gown! It's actually really fun. Take pictures as they create too...

  • When I got married, my bridesmaids threw me a lingerie shower, but no family was invited...but you can still possibly use some of these:

    (1) A "Mystery Box" Game - wrap up a gift and have it passed around the circle (like hot potato). Tell guests whoever gets the box last has to wear whatever is in it for the remainder of the party. Because of the shower theme, most people assumed it was something like a bra that they'd have to wear over their clothes. It was hilarious watching people throw the box around at one another to not get stuck with it. In the end, the item inside was a pretty rose corsage (so nothing "naughty" at all). It was really funny.

    (2) For decor, they used red, black, and white as the theme. They bought boxes of red silk rose petals at Michaels and sprinkled those on the food tables. They also found black gift bags which they wrapped prizes for games in with red and pink tissue paper accents.

    (3) Not at my shower, but at another lingerie shower I attended, they played the "interview the groom" game. Basically, you video tape the groom answering a bunch of questions about the bride/himself/their relationship. Then, pause the tape before he answers and let the bride answer. Guests have to guess how many the bride and groom will match on. Questions included: "Where was your first kiss?" "What physical thing did you notice first about her?" "Who said 'I Love You' first?" etc.

    (4) Gift bingo is always a HUGE hit because it keeps guests entertained during gift opening. Since everyone is pretty much bringing lingerie (right?), you could vary the game by just doing styles, colors, and fabric. Like, instead of normal gift bingo where you'd have things like "Toaster" or "Blender," you can have "Black Panties," "Satin Nightgown," or "Lace Bra."

  • My bridesmaids threw my lingerie shower and they did this.... and i thought that since you had already had planned a clothes line you could tie this in... i loved it and thought it was so fun.... plus it was something that i could put in my shower scrapbook.
