Where would you go?

MIL and FIL gave us 2 $400 vouchers for United Airlines that expire in Oct. Because of their schedules they won't be able to use them so they gave them to us. We're trying to decide where we want to go. We have numerous places we want to travel to but we're trying to narrow down our list.

So I'm curious...where would you go if you had a free ticket?

Re: Where would you go?

  • Disney World. What are the places on your list? Is baby going too, or just you and hubby? I hear where puffy stays is nice this time of year...hint hint.
  • haha

Well whether we have baby boy or not is still up in the air. We've always wanted to go to DC. Also, Napa Valley is on our list. I'm also really wanting a beach vacation where all I do is stay on the beach and drink beer, haha that would be a baby free vacation.

But we've been talking about Cali...

  • Somewhere in CA would be a fantastic long weekend. San Diego is nice, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, and Napa are all nice choices.
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.
  • We just did 3 days in San Francisco and 2 in Sonoma Valley last month. We loved Sonoma and would totally recommend it!

DC! We loved DC and are planning to go again sometime.

This, DH and I loved it as well we can't wait to go back.

  • We have a trip to visit family in Vegas at the end of this month so that is what we'd use them on.

Though, if that wasn't an option I'd go to San Diego or maybe the Bahamas?

  • IMO, October is a great time to travel. Part of the equation, for me, would be how much time off my DH is taking. If it is just a couple of days, I'd stay a little closer to home. If we have a full week, I'd venture a bit farther.

The DC area is beautiful in October! There is lots to do here and great restaurants, too! But, it would be a more active vacation.

The leaves in New England would be pretty that time of year. Boston would be nice.

But, for a beach vacation, I'd probably head to Cali.

    Good luck with your choice!

  • I second the San Diego idea.

If I could go anywhere in October it would be to New England though.  Of course I'm biased (born & raised there), but the leaves are gorgeous and I miss the crisp, fall days and the feel of harvest time.

  • DC hands down. I love that place so much. All the learning, museums and history all put together in one awesome little space, it'd be perfect! In fact, its probably the only place in the states I'd want to live outside of Texas.

  • Another vote for DC!
  • If you come to Cali for the beach, go to Southern California. Santa Cruz and San Fransisco haven't been really warm enough to enjoy the beach

  • New York could be amazing too! Although I really want to go during Christmas. I would love to go up into New England for the leaves and apple orchards. :-)

  • Thanks for the suggestions! I always like to hear where other people want to travel to.

Even though I was kind of wanting a very relaxing vacation (we went to Boston in July and we were constantly on the go) we're pretty sure we're going to do DC. It's been at the top of our list forever, neither of us have ever been and we might as well do it while we have free tickets.

    I'm SO jealous!

You won't regret DC. It's so amazing.

I think my favorite part was that pretty much everything you'll want to do and see is free! Plus, the Metro makes getting around so easy.

    Oh, so jealous. haha

    Yes

Yeah we're pretty giddy about it. I don't know why we even hesitated. The beach can wait.

  • I'm late in responding, but DC is a great choice!! I am from that area and always loved all that there was to do. It's beautiful in the fall! And as KC said, the metro makes it so easy to get around....much easier then trying to find andThen pay for parking! Baltimore is only an hour from there and there is stuff to do there as well! If you want any suggestions or have questions about the area, feel free to PM me!

  • Yay DC! K's Aunt and Uncle live there so we went a couple times last year and hope to go again in October. I get excited every time we go because it's just such an amazing place.

His Uncle took us on a night tour of the monuments one night and it was so much more peaceful than when we saw them during the day. He and his wife are both history buffs so they took time to drive around the city afterwards and give us little trivia facts and tidbits. It was very cool. I'm hoping to go to the Spy Museum and the Air and Space Museum next time.

    Have fun! I'm really jealous.

  • California - but that's because it's where my family is and I don't get to go home often enough.  If I had to choose someplace new...

    New Orleans or Seattle
