So, H and I decided to paint the living room this weekend. Color #1 was "pyramid gold," and it turned out to be way too mustard. Pretty intense, and I hated it.
Color #2 is "celery stick" and it's currently covering about 85% of the living room. I'm not in love with it.
It's very lime sherbet. I'm hoping once the tape is down and the furniture is moved back and pictures are hung, I won't hate it. I don't think I have the energy to do this again, and H would kill me.

Re: Discouraged...
I think with some nice "Ranch Dressing" accents, celery stick should end up looking nice.
On the other hand, if your H hates it too, he won't kill you if you have to end up doing a third color.
The great thing about paint is that it is (relatively) cheap and not permanent. Most would claim it is easy to change but given how much we hate to paint..I disagree. I am pretty sure we went through FIFTEEN samples of gray paint before we finally decided on one for our kitchen/living room. It is hard to find the perfect shade but I have faith that you will get there!
Out of curiosity...did you nix the yellowy and decide to go green instead or are you trying to put both together?
After the yellow debacle, we decided to try green. I wanted a muted, neutral green, and somehow we left the store with a mint green. We both hate it now, so we're making another trip to Home Depot tomorrow. It's frustrating, b/c H loves neutrals (and I do too, if we're talking clothes), but I've been trying to bring more interest to the house. We've done dark-ish gray, brick red, and purple, and those all turned out great. For some reason the living room is stumping us both. I'm leaning toward just choosing a safe, lighter gray tomorrow. Kind of a letdown, b/c we both wanted something very different from the taupe that we had before.
I think a neutral green sounds beautiful - ask the paint associate at HD to help you find one.
As far as the grey - avoid, avoid, avoid...this is how we ended up with the five gazillion paint samples. Grey is impossible to find - depending on the light in your room it could end up blue. Or green. Or....ugh. It is just hard.
Oh, no. Now I'm all worried.
The gray I chose for our bedroom was a really easy decision. I would say maybe I'm just less picky than you, but I'm suuuper picky. I probably just got lucky. We might just go with the same color we used for the bedroom. TOO MANY CHOICES!
BTW... which gray did you guys end up using?
We ended up choosing Valspar Rocky Bluffs at 50%. It is a good color for our space - sometimes gray, sometimes blue but very neutral. It is a "cool" color but somehow makes the room feel very warm and cozy.
We have it in our kitchen and living room - I think we will end up painting the kitchen Waverly's Neutral so we can go wild with the backsplash but keep the Rocky Bluffs in the living room.
@BoyMom21 - I'll keep that in mind if we decide to venture into the greens again in the future. Sounds nice!
We have FINALLY finished the living room. I guess the third time's the charm. Ended up happy with Behr's Suede Gray. It's a medium gray, and looks great with the white trim. So far, it's not green or blue, just neutral. I'm loving it. We bought Behr's Graceful Gray for the entryway and another hallway. We're going to have a very gray house, but I think it'll look nice.
Next up: the kitchen. I'm considering a gray/purple. I know, I'm asking for it. But, in my defense, I painted my SD's room purple and it turned out AWESOME. I might change my mind though. If I could find the right yellow, I think that'd look cool, too. I'm done painting for a while, though.
