XP: Weekend and Day Trips from Vienna
I'm going to be in Vienna for a week in January (for a work-related conference), and am wondering about adding on a weekend trip or a couple of day trips to this. I'm thinking particularly of Bratislava since it's so close, but I know Budapest is also not so very far away. Anything more off the beaten path but worth seeing? Any particular weekend/day trip recommendations?

I think Salzburg is a popular day trip, right? You could do the Sound of Music tour! I wish we could have gone, but we were only in Vienna for a day.
When we did the river cruise last Xmas, we departed from Vienna and our favorite stops were Passau and Regensburg. I am not sure how far those are if you're driving, but I imagine it's doable. Both of the cities were great to explore and we really loved them. (There's also Linz and Durnstein which are close by).
Have fun! We loved our time in Vienna and want to go back!
