After reading all of the input I received here (thank you!!) and talking with some others off-line as well, I've decided that it can't hurt to make an appt. So I got a referral from our pedi and we've got an appt for December 16th. It seems far off but the pedi nurse said that she couldn't get anything sooner so it's better than nothing, I guess, right? Chrissy, it was really the possibility of Alyssa needing possible OT later on w/ "depth perception issues" that got me really thinking.
Thanks again everyone!
Re: Update on head clinic
glad you made the appt. I did not mean to scare you at all. that is just something I heard a PT tell a mom, its a reason they are trying to get insurances to cover it more, that its not necessarily, "just cosmetic"
I hope that everything goes well in December, and like you said by then she will be sitting up so much and off her head that it will probalby resolve itself.
Chrissy
Just an FYI - if her head starts looking worse or you are more worried about it before then you can get in to see someone at Children's in Boston sooner. I made the 2 month out appointment too but ended up calling for another referral that could see us sooner since usually the younger they start the helmet, the shorter they need to wear it (but again, I was pretty sure she needed it so I didn't want to waste any time).
