    I heart Harry Potter.

    Party!!!

  • I just did something stupid. Big Smile

10k training is a 6 week program, my birthday is 9.29 weeks away. Someone on the H&F board just posted that until midnight tonight a nationwide Veteran's Day 11-11-11 race is $11 to sign up, there is one in Vegas, my running partner is going with me on our trip already...I just signed up to run my first 10k in Vegas!!!

Worst case, we are out $11, best case - we run our first 10k in Vegas on my 11-11-11 birthday.

Also, on the cousin thing, I would say something to her, but I am not nearly as nice as most of you girls.  I do not mind confrontation at all when it is needed.

Bobbieleigh - I just can't see this!! You are too sweet!

  • Leslie, I have decided what I am doing but I am not ready to throw it out for the world yet.  I will get back to you around November when I have a real understanding if I am going to die or not.  Indifferent

Brianna, I can be super sweet when necessary but I dont shy away from confrontation at all if I think it is needed.  I am the one person at work that can be counted on to have the "tough conversations", and I am known amoung my friends to be the one that doesnt hold back about my opinion.  When I told Matt that someone at work didnt like me his response was " well sometimes you can be a b-word, so if they dont know you well I can totally see it".  I was like wow but at the same time its true.

  • Leslie I hope this doesn't bring you down, but we just got an email saying that my cousin is pregnant!! She got married in Jan. and he lives in Ireland while she's still in Chicago. I guess she's finally moving to Ireland. I'm so happy for her!!

  • Dear Lacey,

Yesterday, Siavash and I were walking through Stonebriar and I saw a guy that looked familiar but I couldn't figure out where I knew him from and then I saw another familiar face (you :) walking with him as we passed each other. I figured you didn't recognize me so I didn't want to seem stalkerish and chase you down, but I just wanted to say hi now. :)

    Leslie,

Sorry this wasn't the month either but way to keep up the good attitude, and also, that's so cool that you signed up for a destination race. In my running days, I had the most fun at my destination races and getting an opportunity to run somewhere where I don't normally get to. It's always cool to have the race shirt as a souvenir too.

  • Julie,

Thinking of you today, I'm sending T&P's your way.

  • Dear Chelsea,

The doggy in those pictures looks a lot like my Crispin!!  One of these days I want to do family portraits with me, James, and Crispin.

  • Dear Leslie,

Ah thx!! And I'm glad you have some exciting stuff to look forward too! Keep that glass half full! :)

    Dear Vegas Ladies,

Did you go as a couple or with a group of people? My DH is convinced Vegas will be a dud if it's just he and I going.

    Dear Fall,

Like everyone else, I'm excited that you're joining us here in Texas. That said... none of my fall clothes fit. I don't want to buy new clothes because I'm still 10-20 pounds away from my goal size (I don't have a goal weight, just a size I'd like to look and be healthy). Oh, the conundrum!

    -

    CMcG

I wasn't going to do this but now you might sympathize with me ;)

    Dear McG-

What do you think about moving the mini sessions to, let's say October or November?  They are a little over 2 weeks away and I have not met any of my goals.  And they were all my own doing too, I know Indifferent

Haha! I wish! Really, I wish. Because the weather is prettier in those months. But September was truly the only time of the year we could do it, so September it is!

Angie - I had SO much fun with that puppy in today's session. I'm normally not one who enjoys shooting animals (HA!), but that pup was just bursting with personality. It definitely makes me wish we could bring our puppies to our own family session next month, but they are not that well behaved.

    In other news,

This morning, I signed up for a one month, three day a week bootcamp. I'm really REALLY hoping this will be the push I need to kick those extra 10 pounds. They're hanging on too hard, and my normal weight loss efforts aren't doing the trick.

That said, I know I'm pretty much going to hate myself starting next week. I'm a workout wuss, and this will not be easy.

  • Dear nesties!

Hi!! I've been totally MIA, but  I'm REALLY hoping things at school slow down so I can post more.

Dear Cletus (H has been calling the baby Cletus the fetus),

We finally get to go to the Dr. today, and I'm sooo excited to get to see you!  I really hope you're ok in there.

    Dear H.

getting the wrong things at the grocery store will not get you out of grocery shopping, I'll just make a more detailed list next time.

This made me LOL- we just watched Bridesmaids last night.  If you are on a budget, you could just hide behind a tree!

I had an extremely hard time when I started working out because I did not want to do it alone and I am a wuss as well.  I moaned, I groaned, I cursed the video and 5 pm.  It took about a week, okay maybe a little more, for me to somewhat enjoy it.  Plus I also kept track on a calendar what workouts I was doing and on what day.  It was a push for me to visually see my progress.  I think the beginning is the hardest but I'm sure you have a great support system at home to keep you motivated as well as us.

That's been my biggest thing... not wanting to do it alone. I walk on the gazelle, and we walk Jack to school in the morning, and I work my a$$ off in the heat for weddings and photoshoots... but an actual coordinated work out like a video was just hard for me to stick to because I was doing it alone. That's why I'm excited about this bootcamp. Several of my friends from church are doing it, so I know if I miss a day, I'll totally be doing the walk of shame on Sunday. That's all I need... a little potential shame to get my butt in gear!

    LOL at Cletus the Fetus.

My DH doesn't always get all the items on the list either.  The last time he went alone, he could not find the corn in the store.  We went back the day after or so and there as bright and big as the sun was the corn, piled high.  I just giggle to myself most times as I don't always have the heart to ask how he confused 'small box, Healthy Choice, carrots, black beans, edamame, sugar snap peas, stuff we both like' with 'large bag, Vegall, squash, zucchini, baby corn, stuff you don't like.'  We work better as a team; he keeps us on track as I have a tendency to wonder off while I find what we actually need and get everything on the list.

Shame usually is what works in most situations, LOL.  Shame is what has helped with my eating when you have to write everything down and share it with others!  That is really cool that you have friends who will be doing this and you'll have that accountability too, which always helps.

  • You guys and your DH's grocery experiences are cracking me up.   I can't send mine to the store alone, he gets everything on the list and about 40 other items which total to 3x what we would normally spend.  He has to be supervised. :)

Also, unrelated... but my Mom wrote "herbs" on the grocery list once.  My Dad took the list and thought he would stop by Market Street and help her out.   Yeah, he actually asked an employee where the herbs were.  Like it was an item.  My Dad is awesome sometimes.

I'm the one in our house who's not allowed to do the grocery shopping. I'm an impulse buyer and get all ADD in the grocery store, and end up spending 3x too much money, and forgetting the important stuff. Mack does all the grocery shopping, and whenever I need something, I get to be all pathetic and say, "Maaaaaaaack? Where's my ceeeeeereal?" It's great.

    LOL.. awesome.

I have to say, when he goes... we have a ton of good stuff to eat.  Which usually marks the downfall of my routine.  Big Bowl of Spaghetti and meatballs = no evening run for Tiffany.   No evening run for Tiffany = Well, I'll only have one cookie... and so on.

I've done this before because it's MY list and I know what I mean but in the off chance DH goes alone, he doesn't know what half of it is.  I also don't write down 1.265 pounds of steak, which DH would prefer as he wants everything in exact measurements when I just grab what I think it will work.  I also have the bad habit of leaving things off the list but then when I start shopping I remember "Oh yeah, I need red onion for this."  Menu planning has combat this issue but I still do it every once in awhile.

Yes, I go ADD in the store as well if I am alone.  I'm getting better though because I know I can't just buy whatever I want anymore.  We try to stick to the outside parameters of the store but if we go in the aisles, DH's sweet tooth flares up and we leave with cookies, icing, ice cream and bunch of other crap we don't need.

  • I like everyone's grocery stories.  DH and I are very opposite when we go to the store, so it makes joint trips interesting.

My strategy: I know what I want to make, chicken, meatloaf, stuffed peppers, etc when I leave for the store, but I don't take an exact list.  Once I'm there, I see what produce looks good, what is on sale, etc.  Then I get what is needed.  This does lead to some impulse buys and criss-crossing the store 50 times since I keep having to go back for something else I remember.

DH's strategy: put together a list and buy only what is on the list. Oops, you forgot to add something to the list? To bad, not being bought because it isn't on the list.

  • I hate going to the grocery store alone.  I never remember everything I need, and it takes me ages because even if I start on one side, and go down every row, I still forget things and pingpong around the store.  And then get halfway home and remember something else.  Even when I have a list.  It's enfuriating.  It's much better if I go with DH, and even better when he goes alone.  He always remembers little things, like snacks for me.  The funny thing is that sometimes it looks like we have an 8 year old in the house because he'll buy fruit cups and dingdongs and pudding and all these other snacks that look like they belong in a 3rd grader's lunch box.
  • I'm sorry Julie :-(  T&Ps your way!

DH just hates going to the grocery store period.  I like to look and compare things sometimes to see what the better deal is.  He just likes to grab whatever and go.  And he gets frustrated with me when I take too long.

So after having three days off, I did not start this day on a good note.  I went to Chick-Fil-A this morning to get my free breakfast and since I was running late, decided to take 121.  Yea...bad idea!  There was apparently a really bad accident and traffic was just stopped.  I was 40 minutes late to work :-(

I seriously need to get my butt in gear!  Now the Jailbreak is less than two weeks away and I haven't been doing anything!  I was working out consistently before the wedding, but since the wedding, I haven't been as good :-/

  • Dear dude-

I am not your personal secretary.  I guess you did not get that point last week so this week I will be showing you how to make your copies.

    Dear lady-

No, vegetarians will not be choosing from chicken...or chicken.  They don't eat meat and chicken is meat.

    Dear cafeteria-

Seriously?  You're getting rid of Chicken Parm?  It's the best thing on your menu!

  • Dear Friends,

You have all been wonderful today.  So far, I haven't cried and I just have to make it through one more class.  I figure I can make it until I get home now.  I probably shouldn't have come to work.

    Dear Grocery Store Story Nesties,

Bill and I are worse when we go in together than separate.  We usually spend more time in the DVD/non-grocery section at the Super Target if we go together.  If I send Bill with a list and I wait at home, he'll pick up a few things not on the list but he's pretty good.  He'll even take pictures of stuff with his phone to see if he's getting the right stuff.  However, there have been times where I have gone by myself just to make sure the stuff that I prefer gets bought.

    Dear Shananagins,

I'm sad that I've known you here for a couple of years and you finally come to one of my schools and I no longer go there!  I hope you are enjoying your new school.

  • Dear Julie,

Lots of Ts&Ps to you today!

    Dear Leslie,

I am going to Vegas too!  We are going in December.  I thought for sure once I booked Vegas that it would happen...LOL not so much.  :)

    Dear Treadmill,

We shall meet tonight...it's on!  I got you a week ago and you're still in the upright position Chris put you in the minute he unloaded you, you evil machine.

    Dear Nesties,

I'm so glad to be back!

  • I'm will spend $70 bucks when we were only suppose to get $10 worth of stuff. Yesterday was a good example, but DH was just as bad as me yesterday. We just had a few things to pick up. If I don't make a list things go haywire so I normally try to always have a list and we don't go anywhere but the aisles we need for those particular things.
  • I make a list and we buy only what's on the list.  We can each buy one thing that's not on the list.  Unless it's something we need, that I just forgot to put on the list, then that doesn't count as our one thing.

    I'm a list person.
