  • Thanks, guys.  We all made it!

Getting ready went smoothly.  It was chaos at the school with kids who didn't know where to go (poor kids).  We went right to her room and filled out a form for her teacher.  Willa hung her backpack up and picked Henry up to hug him.  She wouldn't let go.  Then she hugged me, and I think both of our lips got a little tremble.  One more hug, and then she picked out her seat.  The girls who were already at the table were really friendly.  I kissed her cheek, took a photo, and we said goodbye.

I took one peek back before leaving.  She was smiling and talking to the girls at the table.

I got to the car just fine, and there were no tears.

I can't say the same for last night while I packed her lunchbag. ;)

I was thinking about you today.  Smile   Glad everything went well and no major breakdowns.  I did almost lose it when I saw Pete excitedly waving back to me from the bus window.  He was so proud of himself to be on the bus with his big sister finally.  I can't wait to find out how his day went.  Would love to hear about Willa's day too!

  • TIgers, I was wondering about you and Pete today too.  I'm glad he was excited to be on the bus!

Willa didn't have much to say about her day.  She can't remember any of the names of the kids in her class.  She played with some fun friends on the playground.  A lot of the kids ate hot lunch, which apparently included apples.  Someone kept kicking her feet in line.  They have monarch caterpillars in the classroom.  That's about it for today.  Very important details, eh?

What did Pete have to say?

  • Oh I just read the blog post before the first day GRSP, and totally cried.  I'm sure I'll feel similarly with Ben in a few short years.  So sweet.

Love hearing all the first day stories and seeing pictures :)  I have a picture of me in a rocking pink ABC sweater on my first day of kindergarten that I still cherish.

  • I was glad the day was more sweet than bitter.

I added some photos of her first day.  In the background of photo#3, you can see her teacher.  Who - in demeanor and looks is not unlike Abby, Dharma (and Greg's) mom.

What did Pete have to say?

I asked Pete what his most favorite thing of the day was and he said "the stop sign".  There is a stop sign on a train table that is covered to tell the kids not to touch it.  He is all excited because his teacher said she *might* take it out this week.  He also had gym and played a "spider" game.  I also think he likes his locker as her remembered the name of his am group where the lockers are.  He sat next to his girlfriend on the bus on the way to school.  I caught a picture of the two of them smiling at each other as they got on the bus together.

Maria had to speak in front of the entire class about her mouse ears which was something she had to present about her summer vacation.  She really likes her teacher and knows a lot of the people in her class already.  She is excited about having a regular computer lab scheduled every week.  She gets to sit next to some of the friends that aren't in her class on the bus too so that was nice too.
