Our future kitchen back splash

I posted about it in Claire's post below, but here's what our back splash is going to look like. :)  I was able to upload the photo easier than I thought!

  • ooh, very nice!

    CRAFTY ME

    my read shelf:
Kasi's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

  • Oh I like it!  Well I am a sucker for the split faced tile Wink but I like that the tiles are longer!  Very nice!

I will say that when we did ours, we still ended up grouting a few and the best trick for that is using a pastry bag with a pinhole opening.  Then to seal it, use a spray on bottle!

  • That looks fun!
  • Kara- It's actually at Lowe's of all places.  We visited tons of tile stores and never saw this and then happened to take one last glance at Lowe's and found it.  We completely missed it the first time because this section of the tile display wasn't near all the other tile in the store.  We ran into a store associate who happened to be the regional tile specialist and she said that some stores run out of room on the floor and just have to squeeze in the displays where they can.  In our store, it is actually 3 rows away from all the other tile which is why we missed it the first few times we looked at Lowe's.  They have the same type of tile in smaller sections, too, that comes 12x12, but we wanted the larger pieces.  These come in 6x14 pieces.

we're thinking about a split face backsplash as well. What kind of seal did you use?

  • I like it, but what about cleaning it, like if something gets splashed on it?
