dogs & petting
dog owners: how often do you just sit there and pet your dog for more than a minute at a time??
i just wonder because i love on my baby all day long (when I'm home) and he is usually on my lap but when i'm at home, if i'm doing other things he's always right with me. i pet him all the time and kiss him, hold him and just make sure he knows i know he's in the room. he's like my baby..
i just sat here and pet my dog for 11 minutes straight. at minute 9 straight minutes, i picked up my petting hand for about 2 seconds and he nudged me to put my hand back on him.
at 11 minutes H got up and so he jumped up to be with him. lol.

not as much as i should. my poor babies
my big doggie is so nonchalant that he doesn't ever ask for love. occasionally...maybe once a week or so, i'll sit down and pet him a little bit. other than that..i just talk to him mostly and tell him how much i love him and how wonderful he is.
my little doggie is so desperate for love that i give it to him mostly whenever he asks for it. he nudges your hands for it and jumps on your lap. at night, he also sleeps by my feet-- and i'll rub him with my feet before i fall asleep.
also, every time we let the dogs in the house, we wipe their feet. when i do so, i pet them, and tell them how beautiful they are.

it's still unofficial, but when i have a will, you will be taking care of tigger when h and i both die. you'll have a dog then.

You can sell babies on ebay, right?
no, but you can on craigslist anonymously before you get caught. i recommend using a library computer.

you can also drop babies off at the er no questions asked. i think you can also give them to the fire department.
but i'd love a chinese baby. you can gift it to me. i'll take care of 1/27. i think i'd be a good mom, judging on how much i love my dog.
this is only in certain states....a few years ago, some dad drove his....maybe 11 yr old? to another state to drop him off. he got in trouble because *his* state doesn't participate in the program. so sad for the 11 yr old.
i'm first gonna leave the baby to uw. just for shts and giggles.

i was talking to uw.. telling her she can get it, and just gift it to me. it's WAY funnier if you leave the baby to her. and probably write something that she has to take care of it for minimum of a year. omg, she'd just die. actually, i think she'd love it so much.
That. My plan for taking Tigz is back firing.
yeah. i might leave her my estate / baby. if she doesn't take care of the baby, she doesn't get everything h and i have ever owned. she can go through my junk and decipher what is good or not.......but i promise she'd come out ahead monetarily

I'm replying late, but my dog (who will be 2 in November) definitely needs attention whenever DH or I are home. While it isn't necessarily just petting (because he is SO HYPER, and will only let us pet him when he's tired), we do play with him a lot (tugging toys, throwing toys,etc). When we are up and have stuff to do, we will both talk to him and tell him what a good boy he is and how much we love him, etc. When he is sleepy and we are sitting down he will usually sit on our laps, but doesn't need petting, the contact alone is usually enough to please him. Occasionally he'll act independent, and will sit on the top of "his" chair and will look out the windows and pass out there.
I don't think there is anything wrong with your dog wanting more contact with you, he loves you and is probably a lil' bit of an AW, but there is nothing wrong with that imo.
