FWIW, I've been pronouncing your last name in my head in the all fancy-Frenchy way forever!  When I was in St. Louis, Juslyn and I were talking about people we'd love to gtg with and I said you, and she goes, "oh is THAT how you say her last name?"  I was wrong!
Married in 2008 - DD born in 2010 - EDD 6.15.2012!

Re: **naylon**

  • Well now I'm wondering how it's pronounced.  I have no idea if the way I'm saying in my head is the "fancy-Frency" way or the "midwest" way!

I just realized that I never said it in the other post, but that's how ive been pronouncing it in my head too!
  • It's a very common French name.  The Frenchy's pronounce it like this.  Dh's family is from the Midwest so likely of French Canadian origin and they pronounce it the decidedly less fancy: Shev-a-leeeer.  Think of the car Chevy Cavalier and then kind of mash them together:  Chev-a-lier.
  • After taking 6 years of French while I was in school, I too was pronouncing it the french way. Prettier the french way, easier the Midwest way =)

  • Yeah, I definitely pronounce it the "midwest way" in my head.  I figured you would be appalled at the way I said it...complete with a bit of a twang.  I'm happy to hear I didn't actually butcher it.  Haha.
