allergy?

It hasnt really been a problem lately, but Im just curious. The few times DH and I have used condoms it has been painful, I cant remember if it was like a burning sensation, but it was enough that I suggessted we not use them anymore. Could I be allergic? Im just wondering, like I said its not a problem anymore since Im on the pill. I dont have a problem with latex gloves though. Anyone else allergic?

Re: allergy?

  • I had issues with some lubricated condoms that the hubs and I used. I'm on Implanon now so I don't have to worry, but it was annoying. We've used lube now and it hasn't been a problem so maybe it was just the type on the condoms.
  • I get really dry really fast with them, some times it doesn't feel dry but it does burn a little... But the sensation after feels the same as when I can tell it's dry. The first few times we used them it did take me a while to get used to them (especially the ribbed ones). If it takes you more than a day to recover from the sensation then I'd probably say you might have some sort of allergy to the lube on the condom. Maybe try a different brand or more lube.

  • You may have a latex allergy. You can get condoms that are latex free. One type is called Skyn. If you have a latex allergy you will want to tell your GYN and your dentist so they don't use latex gloves when they care for you.
  • I am highly allergic.  I would try switching to a non-latex condom and see if the problem goes away.  DH and I like Avanti Bare by durex.  If you still have that feeling after switching then maybe you need a bit more lube.  GL!
