Hump Day

So glad it's Wednesday and this week isn't long.

Last night, J grilled steaks and I used the sweet potatoes from our garden (so glad we got a bunch but now we'll be eating sweet potatoes for awhile!) then we took Wilson man for a walk around the neighborhood. We need to get him into an obediance class or just let him off the leash. My should is still hurting from him pulling me.

Busy day with therapy all day but I'm in love with this cooler weather we're having. I know it won't last but waking up to weather in the 60s was amazing!

Re: Hump Day

  • hey all!

came home last night and ate dinner and then went for a walk.  J had to go to school to get his cap and gown and then was home around 7ish.  We caught up on some last season epidsodes of sons of anarchy then watched some of the season premiere.  Have to watch the rest tonight.

Tonight is the series finale for Rescue Me.  Commercials look so sad.  I'll be sitting there with a box of tissues i'm sure.

    Happy Wednesday!!

  • Good Morning!

We start a new trivia league tonight. I just figured out this will be the last full league(usually 7 weeks) that we will not have a baby. This leaugue will end at the end of October with a couple week break before the next one starts. Crazy how fast time is going. I am not prepared at all. We both had kinda a freak out on Sunday night but it was actually really good we both got things we were thinking out in the open.

Confession: As much as I always wanted to be a mom and a wife. I just don;'t know if I am ready.  I liked our life before kids. Just the 2 of us going to the bar on a Sunday and drinking all day, being about to do what we want. I think I feel this way because I think I have a slight case of prepartum depression, if this is an actual disease or one I made up. I didn't feel this way prior to becoming pregnant or we would have waited.

Sorry to be Debbie Downer:( On a happier note. FOOTBALL STARTS THIS WEEKEND!!!! Well Monday night for me!!!

I don't have kids nor am I pregnant but maybe it's just a case of the jitters and "OMG I'm about to have a baby to take care of" kinda thing (not that what you said isn't possible just offering something else). Either way, I'm sure you'll be a fantastic mom (and Greg a dad) and like everything else in life, make adjustments along the way and you'll figure out what works/doesn't work.

    And YAY for football!

  • I feel like everyone is having babies!

Seriously, one of my coworkers' wives JUST had a baby yesterday and one of the marketing people had a kid two weeks ago and another one of my coworkers' wives is like a week overdue. All you crazy pregnerds!

I was all jittery up until like two minutes ago because tonight was SUPPOSED to be my first baking class. But the campus is like ON the Mohawk River and it's raining so apparently the flooding from Irene receded on Friday, but is now back and I have no class. I really don't know why I've been so nervous about it.

My workload suddenly dropped off a lot. Luckily I have a meeting with my supervisor in like NOW so I can get more.

  • I have some sweet potatoes I need to use.

I am sofahking tired. Last night I got home, changed and walked 2 miles, ate, packed lunch, and took Geege to the vet. The appointment was at 7:40, I didn't see the vet until 8:40, I was F'ing LIVID, and the appointment was expensive. Geege's dentistry is scheduled for 9/28, when we will pay another zillion dollars. At least I know he doesn't have lyme's disease and his hips and legs are ok.

I got home, watched True Blood and had some tea, then went to bed before 11. I took two benadryl and slept like a dead person. I sort of still feel like I'm sleeping. I might need to knock that down to 1.5.

    Raining again today. Surprise.

  • Xtine - I think that's normal. Like an Oh Shi$ moment. I have them before many big changes, and in the end I always adapt and things are fine. I know you will be fine and love your life with your baby like you love your life now. It's ok to be like WTF. Good luck in trivia tonight!

QoA - so excited for your baking class, sorry it was cancelled tonight. We have Irene flooding coming back too. All this effing rain.

  • Had a crappy day yesterday. H came home and wanted to ride the quad, but I hadn't had a chance to mow the grandparents lawn. I did a bunch of other stuff and never got around to it. Fight ensued. I was mad b/c of little crap (he came home and asked what we were doing for dinner, while eating an ice cream... I told him that there is a party for my moms 50th and I don't really want to go, but I don't want the reason to be spite since she chose to not come to our wedding, he misread it... on and on.) He "expected" the lawn to be mowed and wanted to play. That made it worse b/c I'm not working so I have been doing basically ALL the stuff around the house all summer, including cleaning, cooking, laundry, mowing and weedwhacking... etc.

He could have made it all better in a second by just apologizing and saying lets just let it go and he chose not to. He ended up racing me to the mower and zooming around until dark mowing gparents and ours...  Still sorta mad and annoyed, but he did cuddle some in bed this morning and kissed me goodbye. URGH. Anyway. Sorry for the book.

I don't feel like doing ANYTHING today. I just want to sit around and let shiit pile up so he sees what I do every day, even though I am not working.

Xtine- sorry you are feeling down too. It'll probably get better when you get closer and more stuff gets done so you feel more "ready". Just MHO though.

Steph- YUCK on vet bills. I am hoping to be done with ours until spring. It's expensive.

I don't really care for sweet potatoes.

  • Tbears - that sucks. I'd be annoyed too. HMPH! Hmph I say.

I am going to cut the bejesus out of the sweet potatoes, cube them, sprinkle them with fresh rosemary and sea salt, and roast them. Tomorrow. Then I'll do something with chicken thighs, maybe grill them? And steam some spinach. Ta da I have just crafted tomorrow's meal.

This sounds amazing. I will be trying this sometime this week. Thank you ma'am!

  • Today has been a disaster.  I had to pick up our anniversary tier, which was a logistical nightmare because they're only open 8-5, convenient to neither of our jobs, and we only have one car.  We finally decided on a game plan, but then this morning traffic was insane so we changed at the last minute.  I took the car there while Jeff took the train, then a shuttle to work - in the pouring rain.  It took me 50 minutes to drive 8.5 miles.  By the time I got there I seriously needed to pee, and there was no convenient parking.  Got soaked walking to the cake shop, only to find they don't have a public restroom, and then I almost dropped the cake on my way out.  Doubly soaked on the way back to the car, and again almost dropped the stupid cake trying to get out my keys.

Then, in an unfamiliar place, had to find a bathroom pronto before getting stuck in traffic again, so I stopped at a Dunkin.  Great, I needed coffee anyway!  Except no, turns out their pumpkin latte is gross, I actually wound up dumping it out.  Drive home was okay (30 minutes), then packed up my crap and took the train to work.  By this point it was humid as hell and I was sweating like a pig, but at least it was down to  drizzle.  I have a headache from the stress and the fumes of the truck in front of me, and it was seriously NOT worth it for free cake!

Also, I was dressed cute today but it turns out the cami I'm wearing under my shirt is stretching out and now creating these weird bulges all over the place.  So even that is taken from me!  This cake better be EFFING AWESOME.  Jeff is grumpy about his miserable commute and I just wish we'd ditched the whole stupid idea.

  • If I start venting about DH it'll be a book so I'll just say ITA with you, Tbears.  If you come up with a solution that works, I'd love to hear it.  Until then I'm just going to stew.

Xtine - I'm sort of embarassed to say I still have those moments.  There are definitely days where I'd like to do X but I really can't b/c what will I do with Baby Q?  K suggested we join a coed softball league next year (usually I play on my work league and he plays on a local league) until I pointed out...if we are on the same team, or even play at the same time, who will watch the baby?  Never even occurred to him. On Monday afternoon, after I took a shower, I just hid out in the bedroom so I could have 15 minutes to myself...and I got caught.  Anyway, I'm just saying, I know how you feel and there will always be good days and bad days.  As long as the good outnumber the bad you're in okay shape.

SMD - I don't even really care for sweeties but those sound really good...

  • Morning!  I'm crazed at work trying to get shiz done, but exhausted, because I couldn't get to sleep last night.  Not a good combo.

I was just thinking that I've escaped fat face so far, and then saw some photos of myself from this weekend.  Eek!  Fat face!  H was like, your face hasn't changed, honey.  I said, so I've always had fat face?  And he says, you've always had chubby cheeks!  Fail.

  • Yesterday I ran a bunch of errands that had piled up for the week I was sick. Most importantly I went to our sheriff's department to get fingerprinted to clear me for substitute teaching, then to two schools to drop of forms. Now that everything is in I am so totally nervous to sub, especially high school. But I am so looking forward to subbing at the elementary school that I went to school at because I will be working with a lot of teachers that I actually had (and that are awesome).

I also went to a seamstress to alter a dress for a wedding I am attending next weekend. Then made and canned a boat load of applesauce.

Today I am making apple butter and jelly, then going to see if I can pick more blackberries for blackberry jam and maybe, if time permits, making plum jelly too. We are also doing dinner with my parents tonight.

  • XTine-I think it's just the reality of being a mama kicking in. Every one of my friends had some sort of panic attack before having their babies. I think it's good, it means you're actually understanding that the baby will change your lives (but in a really good awesome way). You may not get to go to the bars and play trivia as much, but you'll probably be just as happy going watching your baby smile and laugh and learn to crawl.

Laura- Sucky McSuckerson way to start the day. I hope it starts to get better soon. Maybe a slice of delicious cake? (PS-Thanks for the heads up on the Dunkin Pumpkin)

I'm already over this week, and it's a short week. Slept like poop yesterday. Have a short run today, then start my rest for my mud run on Saturday and 5K on Sunday. Why was I so lame in signing up for two races this weekend?

Super bummed that we're going to miss the Oregon game this weekend, but after going all the way to Dallas to see LSU beat on the Ducks, maybe I need a break.

  • Steph - I am totally eating some of that cake tonight, even though I was planning on waiting until Friday.  As for the latte...I don't know, maybe you would like it?  It was sickeningly sweet for me, and actually made me feel ill, but I know some people like super-sweet stuff.  I am so bummed though...it kills me to waste money like that!

  • The only thing I prefer Starsucks to DD for is Pumpkin Spice Latte. DD's pumpkin stuff is horrible. Sorry for your morning Laura, that sounds like a total suck all around.

Emilyann - I can't remember where I saw that for sweet potatoes...but the original recipe is to use oregano and not rosemary. You'd think either would be weird with sweet potatoes but apparently both are good. Here's hoping! They also gave a helpful hint to put the sweet potatoes in the microwave for a minute or so to soften them up a bit and make them easier to chop.

    .

We will probably bring her to trivia. We play at a restaurant so it's not really a bar. I say this now I'm sure it will change. We joke she will be the smartest child ever, at least random trivia knowledge

Thanks everyone for your support and kind words. It means alot.

  • Bah! I like the DD pumpkin latte just fine. However, I do agree that sbux is WAY better. I've found that they suck at mixing things together. If I don't swirl it around a bunch before I drink it, the latte part and the pumpkin flavoring part never combine and you get sips of unflavored latte and sips of sickly sweet flavor.

  • QofA - maybe that's what happened, I didn't get a chance to stir it.  I've even noticed that occasionally with Starbucks (not my regular store though!).  But it seemed more like maybe she put too much syrup in.

  • Yay for Wednesday, the next 3 work days are going to probably go by slowly since that happens right before vacation. Anyway, got home yesterday from work and it was an obligatory rest day since my legs were still sore from Sunday's trail run and it was a little too hot to run. I'm about 3/4 of the way through on Jaycee Dugard's book, and I think it's really good. Even James has started reading (he admits to not being able to put it down and this is coming from someone who likes books but only  on really interesting topics).
