Re: I made zucchini/blueberry muffins and other randoms
Your muffins sound delicious. And I think that sounds dirty somehow.
Traffic was a nightmare this morning. My usually 30 min drive took 60 min.
Law school is making me love working out. Whenever I get a workout in, it's the very best part of my day. Today I lifted weights and wondered why I had left lifting for so long.
Oh, and if anyone can spare some good thoughts for me, I'm in the middle of a rough patch. Because of the combined birthday celebration with my housemate last weekend and my nephew's 2nd birthday this weekend, I won't be able to go home until the 16th. Not getting to go home and see my kitty is really hard. L comes to me, so there's that, but I was very sad on Monday when he left to go home.
Such a long stint away shouldn't happen again this semester and I know I can handle it, especially because schoolwork keeps me pretty busy, but right now in the middle of it, it really sucks.
Oh, I have the most delicious muffins this side of the I-75, baby.
Good luck getting through the long stretch. I know it's difficult to be away from home and family. More difficult when a furry pal is there. Maybe L can get kitty on skype with you?
I'm going to attribute that to the fact that you're now hanging out with a bunch of 22 year olds.
I kid, I kid.
Good luck with the next couple of weeks, Diana. It's bad luck that this stretch fell at the beginning of the semester when you're just settling in as it is. Can you Skype with G?
Hope the next couple of weeks go quickly for you.
GRSP, I've never thought of combining zucchini and blueberry. Interesting! Pineapple zucchini bread is on my to-do list at the moment.
Ah, I swear I didn't see that before I suggested the same thing. Apparently I should read more thoroughly. And also stop thinking that I am super clever for thinking of it...
Kasa, I like to think we're similarly super clever.
Book Thief: is it a quick(er) read? I have 2 weeks until class starts again.
We are going to the zoo on Monday with T. I am more excited for him than he will be while there. Ha.
Also I'm thinking about taking him up to Silver Lake to go on a Dune Ride. He's free right now, and next year he will be $11. I think he would enjoy it.
I read it in less than 2 weeks, which is quick for me. I spent a lot of time reading though.
Hm, blueberry/zuke muffins sound delicious!
Good luck the next couple weeks DP!
Fun fun!
The Dune rides rule! Mike has never been. I feel sorry for him that he was so deprived as a child. Haha.
I had the most wonderful and sad weekend! We spent 5 days at Higgins lake with my parents. It was wonderful! It was beautiful and I just adore seeing my parents with James. Melts my heart.
But then we had to say good bye.
They leave for FL this Friday. I broke down so hard when it came time for us to leave yesterday. Cried like a little girl, I wouldn't let go of my dad.
However, I think I have come up with a way to see my whole family again... If I host thanksgiving everyone agreed to come! Parents, my little brother and his FI! I am a bit nervous though. Cooking Thanksgiving for everyone when I have a 4 month old? I don't know how hard it will be. But I figure I hosted Thanksgiving for my ILs when I was like a month out of surgery. I am just excited to have my whole family under one roof for the holiday!!
Zucchinni is at the end of the season, so grab a big one.
Follow this recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/moms-zucchini-bread/detail.aspx
I like to substitue applesauce for oil 1:1 (more moist and healthy).
Bake into muffins, not loaves. Add 3-4 blueberries to each muffin (push under the batter before baking).
They are terrific and freeze well. I made a double batch which yielded 2 full loaves and ~20 muffins.
Mira, that's terrific news!!! You'll do great.
We didn't get to the Lake last weekend. I think poor Jim has withdrawls.
You'll do great!! 4 months old is the perfect age for this. J will be able to sit up, maybe, in a Bumbo thing - if you choose to use it. Plus your family will want to hold him, feed him, change him, play with him, etc. You will totally have your hands free to cook as much as you want. Or have it catered.
I'm excited for you. What a great event to look forward to and it will be here before you know it.
Awww. I'm glad you had a good time at the lake, and sorry that you had a hard time with them leaving.
Thanksgiving will be awesome, though!
Anyone up for a little 1st Day at HS feedback. SS came home in a great mode still really excited about the place. Said lunch was awesome. I asked him what his choices were and he said Cheese Pizza. I asked was that your only choice. He responds I don't know I saw that and stopped looking. He then tells me that sitting on the bus some girl sits next to him and says that she and a girlfriend have a crush on him. He told the girl. " A little early for that isn't it." lol
I'm happy to see that we can keep track of homework through most of the teachers blogs. The school also has a link so we can keep track of what he eats for b-fast and lunch.
Biz is starting to pick up some more and DH & I are talking about me cutting down my hours at MI Blood and eventually leaving. I knew it was only a temp position on my part going in but I'll be sad to leave I met some pretty awesome people there.
It's awesome that the teachers have blogs for you to follow. What a great idea.
And woo hoo for business success!!
Hmmmm....zucchini muffins. Not a big fan of blueberries, but the muffins sound yummy!
DP...that must be hard. Hang in there!
Mira...glad you had so much fun this past weekend. Bummer for good-byes. Thanksgiving will be awesome! I worried about how to pull off Noah's baptismal luncheon with him being 3 months old. It was easy peasy since everyone wanted to hold him, feed him (pumping came in handy!), change him, etc. I was so happy to have everyone leave so I could get my turn! haha
Deeder...yay for a great first day! Sounds like they have their act together there.
D&M...ohhhh, dune rides sound so much fun! Noah would love that! He loves the zoo, so hopefully T will too.
Hooray! Sounds like a great way to get some time out of the house and earn a little spending money.
I love this guy.
Molly, have fun at the zoo!
Mira, glad to hear that you're hopefully able to make Thanksgiving work out. That's great news!
Amachuta, congrats on the job! Nice!
Deeder, glad to hear that your SS had a good first day of school. I also think it's great that teachers are blogging. Neat!
I have never been on a dune ride.
L put G on video chat both last night and Monday night. I can't decide if it helps or makes me sadder.
On the upside, we did book three trips to take between now and May.
For Christmas we're spending a few days in a yurt in nowheresville, VA (more on that when I have time).
For spring break in March we're doing a few days in Gatlinburg.
In early May (right after I finish my last finals as a 1L!), we're headed up to Boyne for a very extended weekend.
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA Love it! and YAY for me!
Woot! Congrats!
Uh, yes. This needs more info (when you have time). It seems to be a far cry from Arizona.
My parents are going to Gatlinburg for their 30th anniversary next month! I'm excited for them. They don't travel a whole lot (besides to GR, Chicago, and Tampa to visit me, my brother, and my grandma respectively).
Speaking of BG, have you stayed at Sunshine Resort I&II?
Also, I really liked VA when we visited last (last) spring.
