Finally, an AW on this account!

Alright, so it's small, but I'm super excited. I had a bunch of old jars (and found more after i was done!) and made some ghost lights (lanterns? Candleholders? I don't know!). It was super fun, easy and got me out of my crafting rut and even more excited for halloween.

Sorry for crappy cell phone pics. And sorry if they're super small, I'm tired of dealing with resizing them.

I think I might do some more, but do pumpkins, frankenstein, dracula. Things of that sort.

I didn't. I actually just mod podged some black scrapbook paper and tissue paper. I didn't have any vinyl and I got the craft itch at like one am, so I sure wan't going to go out and buy anything!

    Oh, and thank you!

I didn't know there was a tutorial for it; I just kinda thought "hey, I wonder if this will work. It will." I was planning on doing my own tutorial, oh well!

Next time I have some jars I think I'll go looking for other paper. I've just got SO much white tissue paper; I had to do something with it!

  • Can someone link a tutorial?  I'd love to try to make some with my son.  I have a TON of jars from canning that I could use.

    What a fun holiday craft!

  • I don't have a tut, but I can tell you what to do.

    What you need:

white tissue paper (if making ghosts)

    mod podge

black scrapbooking paper (or vinyl, but I used paper)

    white paint

    1. Cut strips of tissue paper the length of you jar. I did them kinda wide.

    2. mod podge the jar.

    3. stick your strips on the jar

    4. cut eyes and mouths from the paper (I googled
jack o lantern faces to find ideas) and mod podge them to the jar

    5. cover the entire thing in a layer of mod podge and let dry.

    6. Once dry, paint the top of the jar white

    7. Put a candle in it and enjoy!

Oh, and FWIW, I'd use the battery powered tea light candles. They get hot quick with real candles.  :) Boom! Easy project!

  • Thanks for the explanation!!!

I could see this being done for other seasons, too. Blue tissue with white snowflakes; red tissue with green trees; yellow/purple/green and flowers for spring, hearts for Valentine's day.....
