Do you wash your mophead in the washing maching?

I know it says I can, but it collects so much dust and hair that it grosses me out. It also says to hang dry it, but it seems like more dust would come off if I put it in the dryer. Thoughts?

  • Ew, yes.  I won't buy any kind of mop that can't be washed (from the Mr. Clean traditional mop, to the Rubbermaid Reveal, to the Shark Steam Mop).  They have to be washed, otherwise you're just putting old dirt back on the floor.
  • Mine is washable, so yes.

Hot water and soap will remove the gross stuff. Trust me.

If it's microfiber, you want to let it air dry. Microfiber does not play well with the clothes dryer.

I have microfiber mop heads. They air dry perfectly. Everything that can come off will do so in the washer.
