Scottsdale - what to eat, see, do?

DH and I are coming out for a Cardinals game in December. I've been told by several people that Scottsdale is the place to stay. We'll have a car and don't mind traveling a bit during the day but would like to keep it close for dinner. We'll likely be staying at the W. Thanks!

Re: Scottsdale - what to eat, see, do?

  • That's my old neighborhood!!  I used to live about 1/2 a mile from the W.  There are so many restaurants I could suggest, but it would help to know what you like to eat.  Also, I suggest walking if you are going to drink anything at all.  Scottsdale has more cops per capita than I think I've seen anywhere.  Also, I've been to Sushi Roku at the W and I think Geisha A Gogo is a much better sushi place if that's what you like to eat and is within walking distance.

  • I don't like sushi or Thai (or any other cuisine centered around noodles) but I've been to a sushi roku before when we lived in LA and know I found something there to eat. Anything else we're open. Nothing in particular we're looking for. We're also going to Vegas and Dallas (since my dad is four hours away and watching my DS we're making it a whirlwind trip) so we can fill in the different cuisines around what we find there. We'd like good food...not worried about price at all. We will definitely walk/cab...you do have cabs right?
  • Yes, we have cabs! :)   For some reason I never thought about taking them when I lived there b/c everything is so close!  (H always thought it was crazy that I walked everywhere).

I didn't spend much time at the super fancy restaurants, but I know there are a lot of them!  I liked Cowboy Ciao, but the portions are pretty small if you have a man with you.  Also, Kasmierz is a nice wine bar (owned by Cowboy Ciao) to head to after dinner.  For a chill atmosphere and good food/wine, I like to go to RnR.  Wildfish (across from Scottsdale Fashion Center) is great.  For delicious slider size burgers I like Stax (pretty casual).  My favorite Mexican place (Los Sombreros) is a few miles south of where you'll be, but I love it!  For breakfast, I like Daily Dose and The Breakfast Club.
