We are also not going to COTG...I think Noah would do fine with fireworks.  But I am not willing to keep him up that late yet.  Shoot, I am not willing to be up that late! ha!  Yes, I am tired today.

    Freeburger....Sad

Watching Friends makes me feel old as well!

Have not tried surfing.  My DH and BIL did when they lived in Cali....hmmm, something about sharks makes me stay out of the water. Stick out tongue

I just sent TH an email to see if we want to try the fireworks for the first time with our girls this year and they are 3 and 4. My kids truly turn into pumpkins if we keep them out too late. They aren't so bad when we are at the place we are at, however the ride home is usually when they have their meltdown and then it takes them forever to go to bed, but are up and at at 6;30 am (if we are lucky, otherwise it could be earlier.) And then they would turn into Grumpy Gus' that day.

Sometimes it sucked to have them on a routine in that we missed out on stuff, but I would always regret when we strayed too far from it.

Just juice them up with candy all night ;-)

  • Our new TV is being delivered tomorrow.  Yay.  Just in time for football season.

I feel like a complete B because I am so not excited about football season and DH is.  I just don't get into watching sports and I certainly don't get into all of the egos of the sports stars.  I was half listening to a speech from some college player and it sounded like he was running for president.  DH thought the speech was awesome and I just made a snide comment about running for president.  I just need to keep my mouth shut because I'm not being nice and being a stick in the mud.

No you don't.  Part of the fun of sports is making fun of ridiculous athletes.

I think this time of year is tough for someone married to a sports fan. Baseball is still on, college and pro football starting. There is so much that Mike wants to watch and we only have one TV. I need to watch my dvr'd Real Housewives, too yo!

We have little traditions that keep me interested. Every Michigan game we eat donuts and cider, just like we would if we were at the game. It keeps me interested for at least half the game.

TH has so few hobbies and doesn't go out much, that during football season, I try to get out of the house with the girls as much as I can on Sundays so he can watch some of the games in peace. I try to go to my parents at least once a month.  Luckily he isn't that interested in college football...before kids he would watch a little bit, however now that we have two, he knows our schedules doesn't allow for two days of vegging in front of a TV.

Yes.  Well the one that started to take a sh!t 13 month after we bought it.

OMG!  I had no idea you watch this??  I thought I was the only one on the board who did!!!  Please tell me your thoughts on the first episode on RHBH??  I just am freaked out by Taylor sitting in a suitcase saying she wants to go home all a mess crying with her plastic surgery and overly high forehead.  This season is going to be gooooood!  And Adrian snapping at her husband.  ouch!  Lisa is getting really snippy too.  Kyle is as gorgeous as ever.

And RHNJ.  Theresa needs to stop being such a B.  Her husband needs to stop drinking.  Her kids need to go to bootcamp.  And I want to wring that teenage girl's neck that I can't think of right now.  Is it Ashley?   The t-shirt situation drove me insane and the way she treats her mom is inexcusable.

  • Gah - JuliD that picture is scary!! Oh, Dennis.

Close enough..."like adding fuel to the fire".  Yes, I agree with the routine thing.  I am pretty flexible with routine, but not the bedtime.  I like MY sleep too much to mess with it.  Like your kids...if N goes down late, he still manages to get up at his normal time.  UGH!  This morning I went in to him and said "why are you up already?!"  He looked at me and smiled really big and shrugged his shoulders.  HAHA.  Darn kid. Smile

Oh you are not alone.  By December I am ready for it to be over, UNLESS I'm winning in my fantasy football league (H knows how to keep me interested...)  I won it last year.  Only girl in my league and I kicked some butt.  However, if it wasn't for FF I would most likely hate it.

Or I guess I hate that since H likes a non-local team, we have to go to a sports bar to watch half the games.  I HATE that.

Yeah he is such a huge sports fan that there is literally no break throughout the year.  There is always something on.

Oh, girl. I haven't missed a season yet. Except I only watched half of Miami. Boring.

Anyway -I agree with you on everything! What happened to Lisa?? She was the best housewife of all time last season. And now she is just so jealous of Kyle and Taylor's new friendship, it is making her really nasty. She better shape up.

Theresa needs both Super Nanny and Nanny 911, STAT ;) Joe is awful - I laughed really hard when he chipped his tooth while doing a somersault while drunk. Hahaha. And I think Jacqueline's relationship with Ashley is my worst parenting nightmare.

We'll have to have a discussion thread after the next RHBH. While everyone else is discussing books and literature, we can go low brow.

Housewives is ridiculous trash tv. I love it. If anyone figures out a fantasy league for the Real Housewives, I'm in.

I think it is my most long-standing guilty pleasure.  I know it kills brain cells but it is so entertaining.  And I'm not lying - I love seeing how they dress, etc. even if it is gawdy.  I remember when I first saw it on TV it was OC and I couldn't get past the fake boobs and plastic faces.  But, it kept replaying and replaying and finally got to me!

  • Kasa, a while ago my friend was on the board.  She married a BIG surfter.  If you're interested in giving it a shot, I'd bet he would be excited to help you out.  He loves, loves, loves surfing, and I know that Lake MI surfing is about to hit it's peak.  I'm sure he'd be able to help you out with finding (borrowing or renting) a wetsuit too.

Freeburger, I hope the newsletter was not correct in information, and that whatever change might be ahead is only positive.

This moring, I went to wake Willa up.  She was under her covers, and when I pulled them back a little to rub her back, she went back under them, mumbling, "I don't wanna go to school..."  That didn't take long.  ;)  This first week is exhausting for everyone!

Pete said his tummy was tired of going to school this morning.  The seasoned Maria informed him that he would be going for many years so he better suck it up.

  • "suck it up"  Hee hee!  That's awesome.

Henry really misses Willa.  "Let's go pick up Will now."  Aw...

So, she was kind of weirded out yesterday.  She said, "a lot of the kids keep touching my hair.  I think it's because their hair is really different than mine."  I really love the exposure to diversity she's getting.

You can watch it online - not the night of the show, but starting the day after!

That was my word for whatever she told him.  I can't remember - it was morning.  I just love her 7 yo words of wisdom though.

  • I've been going to Celebration on the Grand since the days of the Meijer Food Fair. (Oh how I miss those bags of free food...)

Anyway, the COTG fireworks show is always the best in Grand Rapids. Better than 4th of July. In case the newbies were wondering.
