Tips for visiting chicago

well I am going to chicago November 3, 4, 5 on business and during the day I will have a lot of time by myself. ?So where should I go, what is there to do?

?

I definitely have to go to H&M, but I have no other specifics?

Re: Tips for visiting chicago

  • visit Navy Pier, walk around inside or outside, and have something to eat. i think there's still free bands in the beer garden at the far end.  will be COLD at night, dress warm.

visit Water Tower Place mall.  lots to eat nearby. next door is the John Hancock Building, go to the skydeck at night to enjoy the view of the city.

where are you staying?  you can get a taxi to go anywhere in the city.  will you have days, or evenings free?

Lincoln Park Zoo is free and nice scenery.  Shopping on Michigan Avenue or State Street.  Broadway in Chicago.  ice skating might be up by then, in pretty Millenium Park.

Take the "EL" train, it is very easy.  or taxi. google chicago tourism. visit www.metromix.com for things to do the week you're here.

have fun! it's a great city!

  • I assume you will be staying in the city?

I would go to some of the neighborhood shopping areas such as Armitage Ave in Lincoln Park, Southport in Lake View, Wells Street in Old Town, and Damen in Wicker Park... they have a lot of fun shops to check out- some are pricy boutiques and some are more reasonable. There are also cute, more local type restaurants for lunch or hot chocolate rather than the touristy areas.  You can get to these areas by the el train really easily - try the trip planner on the CTA website.

I would also check out Millenium Park, the Bean, The Art Institute (which is free admission on Tuesdays I believe), and The Chicago Cultural Center (the Preston Bradley Hall is stunning). Lincoln Park is great for walking- especially by the Lincoln Park Zoo and Conservatory.

     Have fun!
