Thought I'd start.
What is your location in the state? Lafayette
Wedding date? Oct 2
Birthday? March 17
Favorite holiday? Halloween & Christmas
Job? Circulation librarian
Interests/hobbies? Reading, writing, embroidery, car shows when the season allows, and I just started getting into working out.
Favorite books to read/music to listen to? I read mostly fiction, but I can get into nonfiction, too, if it's a story about someone who's been through a lot of crap and never gave up. As far as music goes, I'm very eclectic. I was raised on everything from the '50s to the '80s, listen to some stuff from the '90s, got into stuff from the '40s, and also listen to AC/DC, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Breaking Benjamin, as well as Kenny G, Jackie Evancho, Norah Jones....you name it, I'll give it a try at least once.
Pets? A 9 year old turtle (red eared slider) named Squirt, and a 1 year old kitty named Lola (pictures of both in siggy)

I have a degree in paralegal studies, but couldn't find work in it, so I got a second degree. And your corgis are absolutely adorable!!! I love those little guys - wish we had one.
See and I'm a bit the opposite--I have another degree, and could not find work in that field, but I have been able to work in the legal field!
If I may ask, did you complete your degree online, or on campus? I have been looking into an actual paralegal certificate so I could take the national paralegal exam, but have not found a lot of options! TIA
And thanks--the corgis are our babies and we love them to bits!!

Mrs. Palmis...
I got my associates for the paralegal through Ivy Tech, and all the courses were in class. I know some of them are now available online, however. I got my associate for the library assistant all online, and will be getting my bachelor's and master's online. I can't sit in classes - I doodle, fall asleep, or if I've got a big enough gap in between, skip altogether.
Shoot, I'm avoiding doing homework as we speak...
Thanks for the info! I just emailed the local ivy tech paralegal program coordinator. I am not opposed to in class work....I was sort of hoping there would be both in person and online so I can take more at a time. May I ask how long it took you to do the associates? I would love to try to get it done in a year or so. I am also keeping fingers crossed they will let my general course work from my bachelors count towards their gen. requirements!
Me personally it took a little longer than it was supposed to, because being 18 at the time, I slacked off a lot, failed a few courses, changed my mind a few times... Once I went for my associate's in the LTA program, it took a year - little less than that, actually. Dec. to Aug. I know the Lafayette campus offers a lot of online programs now, since we're getting so cramped with the Purdue students coming in droves either to transfer credits over for less money, or for screwing off and needing to get their GPA up so they can get off academic probation.
If I remember right, my instructors also said they offered a certification program afterwards - I don't know as it was offered at Ivy, but they had a class that you could take that would help prepare you for the exam itself.

Favorite holiday?
New Year's Eve! It's the only holiday I insist DH take off work for every year. We like to party and typically spend it out in a different city every year drinking, dining, and dancing. Last year's Easter was a close second though since we spent the day in and out of Margaritaville eating junk food, going to an NHL Playoff game where our team won, and ended the night with two of our favorite bands (one of which had a member of Skynyrd sit in for "Free Bird" at a bar).
Job?
Grad Student
Interests/hobbies?
Sports, reading, shopping, swimming, hanging out on the beach (we moved here from a beach town on Lake Michigan), and travelling
Favorite books to read/music to listen to?
Chick Lit and anything that doesn't make me think! Lol. I listen to a lot of different music, but mostly bands we've discovered and made friends with while travelling. We'll tip them and start talking when we see someone we like. It's fun to look them up on itunes and go hang out with them.
Pets?
None. We're both allergic to cats and dogs.
Children or plans for any?
No and no. We really feel like we don't fit in here since we have no interest in having them and most people can't understand our POV.
You sure are in the middle of nowhere! I've made the trek from Indy to Louisville a few times. And there's not much in between. However, 2 very fun cities that you're between. Indy is always a good time. And .. well.. Louisville, 4th street? Need I say more?
Some people just aren't kid people. I dislike when people judge someone for that. Just glad you and your husband have the same POV. Instead of one wanting them and one absolutely not.

Thanks! I do have a lot of fun. DH and I take advantage of his work schedule (he works one almost full month and then only 4-6 days the following month) and travel when we can. It's been weekends since I still have some health isues left from the endo. I took this semester off and have a very flexible schedule. I actually was in Lexington last week hanging out with a friend's band at a college bar passing for about 12 years younger. I think I shocked the bouncer with my age and pink highlights in my hair. It was fun surprising our friends who stopped dead mid-set with a huge, literal "Holy sh!t!" when they saw me. They're pretty unshockable since they play Austin, Chicago, Nashville, and some other pretty large cities and have seen just about everything. Lol!
I love Atwood. I just used a reference from "The Handmaid's Tale" and Empire records for one of the things I'm having made for a friend. It works in this case. Lol!
