I just moved to Dallas TX.
I just moved to Dallas and have no family or friends here. My husband just got a job at Texas Instruments. He loves his job and is making friends and as much as that makes me happy I can't help but be a little sad because I don't have a job and I really don't know where to go to make friends. I don't need a job financially but I am wondering if I should get a little part time job just to meet some people. What should I do?

Welcome to DFW!
Honestly, I think since you don't have to work FT, go for the PT job and meet friends! Especially with the holidays around the corner, many places will be hiring (mainly retail). Plus it will give you a chance to get out and about here and learn the area where you live. Being on here is a good too. We do have G2G that are open to all members here.
What part of DFW do you live?

Hello and Welcome!
Dallas is a very friendly place. I would look into joining a group like pp said. Church, volunteer, athletic or otherwise.
There is a website called volunteermatch.org where you can find good volunteer opportunities.
Welcome to Dallas! Sorry it has been difficult transitioning for you. If you don't need the job, I recommend volunteering. There is something about doing good for others that really brings people together. You may also look into an inter-murals team with your husband. Softball, volleyball, flag football, and kickball are all really big around here. And definitely join us for a GTG sometime!
What part of town are you living in?

Hi. I just moved here as well, and I am sorta in the same boat. I know how you feel, and it sucks. I have to find a job, not just for financial reasons, but I have to get out and find people to talk to. I'm going to go crazy sitting in our apartment all day.
I say go find a part time job doing something you love! Or see if there is a group for a hobby you like that you can join.

I moved here from New Orleans almsot 6 years ago and still don't know many people. I do work so I have work friends but that's it. I know how you feel. I didn't work for a couple of years and it was pretty hard. I am glad that I have meet friends at work but really don't have much time to hang out b/c I work full time, go to school at night and babysit/dogsit/house.
If you do look for a job what field would you be interested in?
