confession

I have so many projects that I'm working on at home. A couple quilts, Halloween costumes, Christmas presents, quiet books, reupholstering chairs... I can't drag myself away from them long enough to do any of the regular mending that crops up. So I wore a shirt that I KNEW was missing two buttons to work today in order to force myself to fix it. Please tell me I'm not the only one who keeps a sewing kit at her desk for this purpose.

Re: confession

  • I don't, but I thought I'd tell you that you made me laugh!  I have the same amount of projects going (minus the Christmas presents)!
  • I tend to rip the hems out of my dress pants, so I keep quite a few quilting pins and a sewing kit at my desk too.

  • I have a sewing kit in my purse. I am the sewing version of the mechanic with the broken down car.

  • I would rather make an entire new "whatever" than mend, sew on a button, hem, etc.  I hate hand sewing!

  • Why on earth would I use my sewing machine for something practical like mending?! I have like 5 pairs of scrub pants that desperately need to be hemmed (my boss has commented!), but I have better things to do with my sewing machine =)

  • I do have a sewing kit at my desk, but it's used mostly for repairing the stuffed animals from the children's section of the library.  I hardly ever repair my clothes - I just hate hand sewing.  I feel like I do a terrible job at it and would rather do something else.
  • I used to wear my retractable name badge on my left scrub top pocket. I'd have to pull it to silence alarms and such. It was rough on the pocket and I ended up tearing it down a good three inches on one side. I had a sewing kit in my bag and quickly stitched it back. It looked like crap, but it got me through my shift.

Pfft. Mending your clothes before you even take them off?! You are terrible at this game.
