Hey, I just saw your post over on D&R about the Habitat ReStore (sorry if this is creepy, lol). I wasn't sure if you were still checking it, and I wanted to give you feedback about the Detroit store specifically.
I have only been once, but IMHO, basically it is a dumping ground for a LOT of 1970s crap that looks like it was torn out of someone's house when they remodeled a room. Now, that isn't to say there is nothing good there. They had a few decent rugs, and we actually bought the laminate counters for our basement there (which is why we went with white...all the other colors were peach, mint green, etc). I think when we get around to buying a new screen door for our house I will also look there first. Overall I would liken it to a really big garage sale....mostly hand-me-down crap, but a few good items here and there.
I would recommend going once just to see what it is like. And who knows....maybe they have gotten better 'stock' since then, I'm sure they rotate stuff fairly quickly depending on what is donated. HTH!
)
P.S. It looks like there are also stores in Ann Arbor, Brighton, and a bunch of other places....I'm sure they're all different. This makes me want to go and check out the AA location....maybe we need a little ReStore GTG?
