Can I AW?

I feel like all I do is AW on what Monk is doing, but I am so proud of my little man and the progress he has made since we started ST. His stimming has gone way down, especially for what I call "little stims" like hitting his ears and flicking his fingers...and those were not that overwhelming to him as it was...but I think its because he has a productive use for his hands with the introduction of signs. He is signing more, help, open, please, all done, goodbye, he even signs to play angry birds on our phones, drink, and one he made up that I havent figured out yet...we are working on ball and food and then we are going to start working on animals and introducing animal signs and corresponding sounds to see if he will start mimicking us.  EI thinks he might start with some echoliac speech soon, which from what I understand is good because we can start to mold that into meaningful verbal communication.

He can point to his nose, head, tongue, teeth, feet, and belly (belly button). He can identify some shapes, and will point to a lot of pictures when prompted with the word for the pictures....including a glass of milk, a cracker, ball, choo choo train, and a handful of his favorite fruits and vegetables.

He is doing really well with transitioning from activity to activity, and we have noticed that his internal clock is spot on...about two minutes before we start to transition out of an activity at playgroup he will sign all done and go to the door or go get his shoes  or whatever the case may be.  He has started to acknowledge other kids and animals, which he largely ignored or was hesitant of.

Next week we have a re-evaluation for ST, and we will go back to see the doctor for a follow up appointment with the doctor in January. I am trying to stay realistic, but I am hoping for a few words by then, or at least some better imitation of sounds.

This turned out really long, if you got through this you deserve a cookie....which I will buy because I am too exhausted to cook or bake anything right now.
