get away recommendation

H and I spent our HM at Cabins and Candlelight in Colfax, IN and it was FANTASTIC! http://www.cabinsandcandlelight.com/). I thought I just throw out a recommendation for it since we liked it so much. The pictures on the website aren't enough to show how nice it really is there.

  • Sounds pretty! DH and I are going to Brown County for our 1 year in a few weeks. Got reservations at a B&B down there - all I had to mention was hiking in the park, and he was on board. That's what I get for marrying an Eagle Scout, lol!

You are going to love the Brown county Inn! My parents have stayed there, and we have eaten there. It is a great spot and this is a gorgeous time of year!!

OP, thanks for the suggestion too! We love close getaways and even though I am a native Hoosier I love suggestions!

Lovvve Brown County.  Went to IU and went to Brown County a lot.  It's GORGEOUS this time of year.  Especially in a few weeks. changing colors!

  • I haven't been to Brown County since I was young, but we love Turkey Run, and I'm excited to take H to Spring Mill State Park and McCormick's Creek State Park (2 of my favs.)

  • I'm excited, but I'm not sure if it's because we're going on vacation, it's our anniversary, or a combination of the two. Hubby is from southern IL, but he took the husky he used to have through the trails at Turkey Run. I've never been - driven past, but never stopped. We always take the camera, so I'll come back with lots of photos for you from the trails.
  • We got married in Brown County and did a low-key wedding reception on our property.  We're less than an hour from there (very rural), but since I have a severe allergy there wasn't a caterer that could make anything there for us.  I catered the whole thing and we had a great afternoon reception.  I planned the entire thing in under 40 days.  You'll love the area!
