Not happy with blades / mats on Silhouette

Has anyone else had problems with theirs? My machine has barely been used and it is already not cutting the whole design / cutting it jagged, and the mats are not sticky at all and they are all ripped up too. I followed the directions to a t both times I used the machine (yes, only twice - once was a craft weekend, but I used the Cricut WAY more than the Sil), and I emailed Silhouette. They sent me links to the FAQ pages and asked if I had done everything listed to improve the blade/mats.

I have done everything they suggested. Should I pursue it further with Silhouette or just shut up and buy a new blade and mats? I'm so ticked off at that machine I'm sorry  I ever bought it :(

Re: Not happy with blades / mats on Silhouette

  • I don't have a Silhouette (or any cutter, for that matter) but I would pursue it further! If you're not happy with the product, keep making noise until they make it right. Depending on how long ago it was purchased, you could also try taking it back to the vendor.

  • I wasn't happy with the lighter duty settings on my blade- I cut everything on the highest blade setting because I don't think the lines are clean enough otherwise.

That said, with the highest setting, I have no issues, even cutting interfaced fabric.

  • I had to use the double cut for it to cut at all. If it worked with the double cut, that would have been fine, but it doesn't!

I think I will email them back - I will give them credit for returning my initial email in less than an hour!

  • I use the pink cap and set the pressure to the highest setting if I am cutting cardstock.  If I am cutting thin patterned paper I cut at a pressure of 4 or so with the pink cap as well.  As for the mats, from day one they sucked so I used Zig glue and re-sticked (stuck?) it myself.  I have had no problems since.
