Housewarming Party on a Sunday?
DH and I just moved into our house a couple weeks ago and we'd like to have an "Open House" style party for people (mainly family) to come see our new house. Most of the Saturdays in the next four weeks or so are booked and I heard the norm is to have the party 4-6 weeks after you move in. Would it be acceptable to have it on a Sunday, open house style? A lot of people we know are football fans too so I'm worried about "interfering" with that schedule. WWYD?
Thanks!!
Re: Housewarming Party on a Sunday?
I think it'd be fine. My mom always did her Christmas open house on a Sunday and I've done a couple then too.
You didn't say whether your friends are NFL or college fans, and that makes a difference in attendance. I know plenty of women who kept the game on at their wedding reception to keep the men happy - no reason you couldn't too for the guys who are NFL fans.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
I would think it's fine. Some of your friends that are football watchers might just not stay long....or you can put a TV on for them.
You could also do it earlier in the day when games are just starting.
I see no issue with a Sunday party. Put the game on in a family room and call it a day. If people want to sit home and watch a game they are the losers. (sFIL spent my kid's bday party in the basement watching a game. I'm a little bitter)
Congrats, fellow new homeowner!
We just moved into our first house (well, we're in the process of moving...goodness I hate moving...), but we closed and started the move at the end of August. We're planning on having our housewarming party be open house style. We're doing it Columbus Day weekend on Sunday in the afternoon between 1-4 p.m.
Even though we never watch sports (my DH just isn't a sports guy), we'll probably put on the local game for people who want to see it/keep up with the score. Honestly, if people don't want to come because watching the game is more important to them, I really don't care. They can see the house some other time.
