Hello Ladies! I know I haven't posted in a long while, but I guess 3 part-time jobs, full-time school, and an internship will do that to you! Anywhos...
Coming up in November, I am throwing a baby shower for a friend who is due in January. Her and her DH are decorating the baby's room in Winnie the Pooh. So I thought, what better than to throw a Hundred Acre Woods shower for her!
For food, I'm thinking things like mini pigs in a blanket, veggie tray, PB&Honey sandwiches, etc. Any other ideas for food?
Also... for decorations, I want it to be classy, not all plastic table cloths and Winnie the Pooh streamers. I'm an intern for a wedding planner who has many supplies I can use. One thing she mentioned was tree slabs for centerpieces. I like this idea, but don't want to just put a round wood slab on the table. I was thinking Winnie the Pooh colored fabric on the tables, or something like that. I'm not sure what else to do as far as decorations go. Do you ladies have any cute/classy/creative decoration ideas?
TIA!!
Re: Hundred Acre Woods theme baby shower...need decor/food ideas!!!
I think small wood "slabs" would be cute for centerpieces, but yes I would put something on them. Maybe you can get some local honey in jars, and decorate it with some ribbon. You can use it as favors maybe? Or even just an open glass/ceramic jar with a "hunny" label on it but filled with flowers. Or even a painted flower pot like this

I think using pooh colors for table cloths would be cute. Maybe even some plants (trees). Maybe even some balloons for some color/fun (I think he uses a balloon when pooh gets stuck high in the tree)
As far as food, you can theme them per the characters?
Veggie/fruit Platter - Rabbit
something with honey - pooh
pigs in blankets (or something similar) - piglet
etc...tigger, eeyore, roo, christopher robin etc
sorry my idea's aren't much, but hope they help!
I love this theme/idea!
One thing I would suggest is getting a copy of the original AA Milne series (not the Disney picture books) and having guests sign the inside covers with notes for the baby. It serves as a nice guest book to remember the shower, but it is also something the parents/baby can read together and keep for a long, long time.
Are they doing new or classic Pooh? I love the classic Pooh colors -- sage, cream, tan, olive, chocolate. You could do a lot with just those as your palette. If it's "new" Pooh, I'd stick with the red and yellow that the Disney Pooh is known for. You could do yellow table cloths with a red runner or red flowers.
I like Arez16's idea of using the characters to theme the foods. You could do some sort of mixed greens salad for Eeyore (doesn't he always eat thistles? It makes me think of plants).
Honestly, I would avoid the food being theme-y. I would just put out nice "shower" foods in wooden (think salad bowl) containers and honey cookie jars. Maybe have the table look like a forrest/garden.
Love Pooh!
