Wood Floors - What's your cleaning process?
Our new house will have wood floors. Curious what steps to take to make sure the finish lasts a long time.
Thanks.

I use the shark vac-then-steam

Doesnt use any harsh chemicals.
I didn't think you were supposed to either. We have a shark steam mop for our current tile floors, but would not think to use it on wood.
1/2 and 1/2 vinegar and water. It is the only thing that naturally keeps the authentic wood floors in tact. And.. it is the same vinegar you can put thru the dishwasher when it gets a little cloudy

I only use my steam mop on my tile floors, although it says as long as your wood floors are "sealed" it is fine in moderation. So I wouldn't do it every week and if you have an older home with older wood floors its prob not a great idea.
For our wood floors I generally swiffer regularly and every other week I take a rag and put it on the bottom of the swiffer, then use Method brand wood floor cleaner, which I squirt onto the floors and then run over with the swiffer rag. It only takes a little of the cleaning solution. Method makes the floors gleam and it smells great and doesn't have harsh chemicals:)
Murphy's Oil Soap

Ditto. Our hardwood floors are in serious need of refinishing (so badly it appears glossy stuff flaked off), so I won't go near them with a steam mop.
