Bumpy Skin

I've always had bumpy upper arms. It's gross. Recently it's gotten worse and I'm noticing the bumps on my lower arms, thighs, and even parts of my lower legs. UGH!

Does anybody else have this? Do you know of ways to minimize it? It's gross and kind of embarassing.

Re: Bumpy Skin

  • I have no idea "why" but I went to a Mary Kay presentation once and the lady SWORE that this lotion (used regularly) would make it go away. It does.

  • Good chance it's keratosis pilaris.  I have majorly bumpy arms too and change of seasons, for whatever reason, makes them worse on me.

Yep. That sounds exactly like what I have. Jake has it too. Poor Neena is doomed.

Thanks for the suggestion, Tiff. I'm going to check it out.

I agree with naylon. My dermatologist told me I have it and suggested I try a lotion called Amlactin. I found it at my local grocery store. It's pricey for a lotion but I have had luck with it. I only use it on my upper arms and thighs so it lasts longer than using it everywhere. My dermatologist also told me it is common to be worse in colder weather and clear up in the summertime.

  • I have keratosis pilaris too.  I've used Amlactin in the past, but I finally just decided that it's a part of me, for better or worse.  I do think that we notice our own skin a lot more than other people do.  The few times someone has brought KP up in conversation and I've mentioned that I have it it to, the person has said "Really?" and looked.
