So I have been trying to get a job at one particular company for 3 years now. I always blow away the interview and they are impressed. They even say "wow I am impressed" or " i cant wait to have you on my team in a few weeks".
The procudure at this company is that a recruiter calls you then you get a face to face interview with the hiring manager and then if you pass that they schedule you for the personaltiy testing which is done via phone by HR.
Well twice I have gotten as far as the HR personality test then I get silence, no return calls/emails...nothing. The test is scheduled for about a week after your face to face with the manger. So by the time the personality testing comes around I have already sent my thank you note and gotten more positive feed back from the hiring manger. This is why I am convinced the problem is the test and not the interview.
Six people that worked as my peers at my old company that closed this past February have gotten hired on by this company that I have been trying to get into. When I worked with these peers I was consistently ranked #2 on the team. Also, I have a bachelors which only 2 other team members have.
I am starting to ramble now but the main point of this post is to find out how should I be answering the personality test in order to ensure I get the job. I have answered truthfully 2x before and that did not wok.
Re: HR Personality tests
There is no way to tell you how to answer the test without knowing what the tests are, and what personality the company is looking for in a person for that role.
Do you know the results of the tests? I'd ask the HR company for the results and what kind of personality they were looking for in the role. If you ask politely and "Out of curiousity, what type of personality are you looking for in this role?" they more than likely will tell you and share.
Then work on those personality traits that may be negatively affecting you, rather than trying figure out how to answer.
Have you tried googling "X position personality traits" to see if there's any info on what sorts of characteristics they might be looking for? I'm not suggesting you lie, but knowing what the test is trying to figure out may help you to answer more appropriately.
You might also want to call one of the hiring team to ask about the test as part of your preparations - what are they testing for? what traits are they trying to avoid? How could you best prepare for it?
Good luck!
