We will be leaving for Europe in a couple of weeks and will be mostly visiting family. My aunt lives in Amsterdam (near the Rijksmuseum) and will be be visiting her for about a day (Thursday PM til Friday PM). Right now our plan is to go to Artis and the botanic garden but it it rains that is sort of out.
Do you have any suggestions as to what we can do there with a 16 month old toddler (in case of inclement weather that is)? We are not really looking to do something touristy (although that would be OK). We mostly want to do something that we can do with my aunt that is fun for DD. My aunt's house is really kid unfriendly, steep narrow stairs and nothing to do for kids so we would like to get out and do something with her while visiting (the days of long dinners or sitting aournd the table with a glass of wine are over for a while
). My aunt never had kids so even though she was going to see what we could do in case of bad weather I figured I would ask here since several of you have kids.
Any suggestions are appreciated!
TIA
Re: Amsterdam/Dutch ladies
There is a place called TunFun that I refer to as hell in the city center.
If you're willing to take a train out of the city center a bit, there is also a play place called Ball-o-Rig near the Arena.
Nemo (children's science museum) is fun.
I wouldn't count Artis out altogether. They have some indoor areas (like a butterfly house and a few museums).
Here's my list I was keeping for rainy days:

Thanks for the link, that is very helpful! I will bookmark it si I have it when we are there...
