I'm at work early this morning. And I chuckled when my computer loaded and AwkwardGuy with his cat, circa 1989 popped up.
Re: Tuesday randoms!
I'm a bit hungry right now but nothing really sounds good. I have several breakfast options but I'm not feeling those options.
Oh and our car is out of is out of commission for at least the next week. The funny things about the whole things was when DH came in for the night and asked me "How did I do in handling it today?" We've been working on tempers in the Deeder House.
I'm on the search for new dining room chairs to match my farm-style table from Craigslist. When i didn't need dining chairs thrift stores were crawling with them, now all I can find are cheesy ones from the 80's. I want 4 funky mismatched ones so I can paint them. However I did get an awesome vintage cookie jar from Salvation Army yesterday
Next to find a new rug for the dining room. I ordered one on Overstock.com and it was not at all like the picture. Textured, and green instead of blue. Blech. It's going back.
Yay, it is working!!
I'm sorry about the rug. Annoying.
I was hoping to do the same for our (similar) table. On my search, I talked to a Salvation Army guy. He said they get chairs all the time, but people buy them up right away so they can take them home and paint them. HA! We're 3/4 found. If I find 2 chairs, I'll let you know, and we'll split them.
Kasa, I'm glad you started the work day with a chuckle. I hope that sets a tone.
My parents' anniversary party is this weekend. Every time one of my siblings call me now, I get nervous. Sometimes it's hard for me to remember that my baby brothers are now responsible adults who can handle this.
Haha great minds
I ordered a bench from walmart.com that matches pretty darn well. Adam still isn't on board for painting chairs but he'll get over it
Kasa - Glad you started your day w/a smile. :-)
Deeder - Sorry about your car issues. :-(
GRSP/Freeburg - I'm impressed w/your resourcefulness - good luck finding the rest of your chairs!
Despite a completely craptastic drive into campus this morning (accident--people around here drive like effing maniacs), I feel a little better today. Maybe it was the 5km run, maybe because I'm one day closer to the weekend.
I took some deep breaths and realized how lucky I am to be doing this and how awesome it is to be following my dream. Nothing worth doing is ever easy and one of my best strengths has always been determination.
Have a good Tuesday, ladies!
DP were you involved in the accident, or slowed down by the accident?
You have a great perspective. It's going to be hard work, and a lot of it. But of all of the personalities I know, yours is well suited for the challenge.
Deeder, sorry to hear about the car.
GRSP and Freeburger, good luck on your hunt for chairs! Neat project.
Wop, great news about the lower than expected hospital bill! I think you're the first person I've ever known who received a health/insurance bill that's lower than expected. My response to opening my bills is usually along the lines of, "Why the hell isn't insurance covering this!!!???".
And then a string of profanities directed at health insurance companies, doctors, and the U.S. government ensues.
Diana, glad to hear that you're feeling a little better today. One day at a time.
Oh we still had some bills that were not covered. None of the classes we took classes were covered which made me mad. And I'm sure the private apt. with the Lactation Consultant won't be covered either. And I just found out my neighbor is a Consultant. She was all "Oh, by the way"... a week later. Oh well.
I drive by 2-3 "professional garage salers" on M-37, I think on is currently open for business. At least two of them must be the ones that snatch up the chairs at Salvation Army because they have about 50 chairs at their sales. I will start paying attention more on my drive home and note exact locations and how many chairs they have.
Wop - great news on the hospital bill. And just think...one appt with a LC is way cheaper than formula.
Money well invested.
Kasa - hope works go well for you. I just got out of my planning committee meeting and am super stressed at how much needs to be down in how little time.
I know that feeling. Good luck to you too!
The stylist who does my hair had a baby and cut back her schedule. I've had an appointment for tomorrow for three months, but they just called me and said she can't do it and asked if I'd be willing to see someone else at that same time, or reschedule. I said I'd reschedule, but due to her limited schedule now, it became evident that I wouldn't be able to get in to see my person until well into October (when I'll be on vacation anyway). That won't work. So, I'm seeing someone else at the salon tomorrow instead.
I'm bummed. And scared of a new person touching my hair.
In the talk of the problems with the USPS, I got to thinking how weird it would (will?) be when people don't have mailboxes in their front yards anymore.
I would be annoyed. I stuck with my girl for the longest time and followed her to two salons and her house with a limted schedule. She then started one of doing one of those direct sales business and cut back to one day a week and I was pawned off to her friend at a salon. I was bummed and annoyed.
If by chance you're seeing Stacey, she's AWESOME. I love her. She totally "gets" my hair without me even telling her what I want. I can't wait until my next haircut...even though I'm waiting until after a wedding in Oct.
I think I'm seeing Rachel? I don't know. Hopefully they're all good.
That would be weird. Though, everyone in my neighborhood has the small boxes attached to the house. No boxes for car fulls of teenagers to hit with baseball bats.
I have to say, I love our mailman so much. Dan the mailman rules. He should train all the new postal carriers. Last February when the entire city shutdown because of snowfall of the century he was delivering mail with a huge smile. I offered to make him a hot chocolate or coffee and he declined, of course.
Awww, I love that!
