Need ideas for Sweet 16 Birthday party

My daughter turns 16 in October. I have no clue what to do!!! She is not a really girlly girl. And loves Twillight. Any ideas?

Re: Need ideas for Sweet 16 Birthday party

  • How about a movie-marathon sleepover with her closest friends?

You can have some "interactive" snacks like making your own popcorn mix.  Add spices or toss with M&Ms.

Or are you thinking more of a family event?  If that's the case - how about a twilight-prom theme?  People don't have to dress in gown and tuxes, but maybe you can have corsages for all the ladies and fake bow ties for all the guys.  Everything can be black and red.  Hang half moons from the ceiling.

    HTH!

  • When I was in grad school, I wrote my Master's thesis on Twilight. So, my graduation party was Twilight themed. We strung white Christmas lights all over the room to mirror the gazebo in the prom scene. I had lots of red and black decor, lots of candles, red roses, and apples in vases. I used printables from HostessBlog and pictures from an old calendar I found on clearance to hang on the walls.

Here's some blog posts I did about the party if you'd like more ideas/images:

  • Here is a Sweet 16 party I did with a Wicked/Broadway theme.
You can easily change it out for a Twilight theme.
  • If she wants to invite boys, a Twilight theme might not be great. Boys hate Twilight.  Like, HATE it.  LOL  But everyone loves vampires!  Since it's near to Halloween, you could make this a vampire themed party.  Maybe "16 and Vampire" or "My Scary Sweet 16."  Vampires are so glamourous now, she could wear a cute red or black dress and paint two red puncture marks on her neck.  You could have fake fangs at the door for everyone.  Make a red punch and call it "blood punch".  Turn the bathroom into a BATroom.  Put all the snacks in a huge coffin.  Play a scary old movie.  Play a game where, if the "secret vampire" passes you a coin during the party, you have to fake your own death - the most dramatic death scene wins.   If you also need to have a life-sized cardboard cut-out of Edward from Twilight for photo ops, so be it.  :)

If you aren't set on a vampire/Twilight theme, other fun things to do would be to have a party at an indoor pool or movie theater, or go with a casino night theme, or have a bonfire.
