Re: Divorce Rings

  • Lol wtf.

I really don't see the point in wearing a divorce ring. Why would you want a reminder of that???

UNLESS you see it as bastardizing the gift that was given to you, warping it, and making it your own?  Spite.

  • Not to open a can of worms, but it's sh!t like this that in my opinion makes the whole sanctity of marriage argument against gay marriage a bunch of bull. It wasn't that long ago that being divorced was something to be embarrassed and almost ashamed about, not something you flaunted. Pft...people

This.  Not that I think divorce is something necessarily to be embarassed about, but the flaunting has gotten ridiculous.  You want to take your wedding ring/e-ring and turn it into some other piece of fabulous jewelry, fine.  But a divorce ring?  please.

  • Yeah, the same people who buy divorce rings are the ones who throw themselves divorce parties.  Ick.

This. I don't see any reason in having the stones go to waste sitting in rings you won't wear any more. My mom had he stones from her ring from my dad put into a necklace that she wore almost every day when she was still working. I asked her why she did that and why she wore it so frequently and she said it was because she still treasured the relationship they had when they got married and the continued relationship they had to have because of me after their divorce. I think it's nice, especially since my parents were married for 14 years before they got divorced. I'd be upset if my mom had some atrocious looking thing like that ring.

  • I think it's tacky.

I remember when my parents divorced, my Mom was so embarrassed that she refused to talk about it to anyone. I'm not saying that people should be embarrassed about divorcing (sometimes it just doesn't work), but there are some things that you just don't run around advertising.
