pesky deer

Hello,

I usually post on GP, but had a question for you all! Can you recommend plants and flowers that are deer resistant? I live next to a state park that is loaded with deer! We moved into the house in April and the deer have eaten all of the hostas the previous owner had planted.

 TIA!

Re: pesky deer

  • Hi, my parents owned a tree farm, and my dad found that those toilet-bowl deodorizers from a family dollar type of store worked pretty well at deterring deer.  The best ones for us were the white wire-hangar ones, which can be bent around a low lying branch (or shrub) and if you only cut the bottom of the plastic wrapper, the deer can smell it, but it won't melt in the rain, and this slit in the bottom keeps the smell from being too noticeable. good luck!
