kitchen table

with all these unplanned renovations i have convinced DH that we should get a new kitchen table.  Where is yours from and do you like it?  I want a pretty basic rectangle table that can withstand a growing toddler.  Bonus points if it has a leaf that folds down into it.  I dont even know where to start because most of what I find is more formal dining room and ours is very much a kitchen.  Thanks!!

Re: kitchen table

  • We got our dining table from IKEA.  It has really stood up to the kids etc for the past 10 years or so.  They don't currently have our model but it looks like they have reasonably priced table with leaves that would make them bigger or smaller depending on your needs.  We went with IKEA for most of our current furniture expecting the kids to ruin it.  I don't think many wood tables would stand up to the forking my 4yo gave the table a few years back.
  • I love IKEA...but had not thought about checkign there for a table....i'll have to check that out....we have so much from there too....:-)
  • we got ours at Belfort. It is a counter height table and it is a square that seats four and then expands with a leaf to seat 8.

  • We got ours from World Market and I'm very happy with it. It's solid wood and was easy to put together. They have frequent sales on their dining tables and chairs.

  • I've been lobbying to get our next dining table from Ikea.  They have the Stornas and the Bjursta are my favorite after seeing them in store.  They seem to be solid pieces that I won't be too sad if they get damaged by my future currently hypothetical and imaginary children!  Both have leaves that store in the table.  GL!

Wines dining room table is really nice... in her house, it looks a lot more expensive than you'd think it would be and seems really solid.  If my dining room were a little bigger, I'd get one like it.

  • We have the Crate and Barrel Basque table.  I love it.
