Anyone made a yarn wreath lately?

I'm going to attempt one for a baby shower that I'm cohosting this weekend.  My sister makes them and says it's easy, but she's in MD and I'm in AL.  Any tips/suggestions?  I've been checking out blogs, and I get the feeling I just need to start and see what happens.

Re: Anyone made a yarn wreath lately?

  • I made one.  My suggestion is to use craft glue to keep the first wrap around in place (something that dries clear, and only on the back).  Otherwise it was a really easy and versatile project- mine is white and I add seasonal/ holiday decorations as I desire to change it.

  • I made one last year, and I actually just tied the yarn around the wreath form, secured it with a knot, and started wrapping. It covered up the small knot jsut fine.

  • I'm frustrated.  I went to look for a wreath form today, but Michael's is closed b/c they're moving (and of course, the new store isn't open yet).  I looked at Joanne's and Hobby Lobby, and they don't have any straw forms, or any foam forms as big as what I'm looking for, only grapevine which won't work.  Defeated before I even got started :(
