My Shittty Day Vent

I spent most of my morning crying. I don't think I have cried since Abe was a newborn and I had all those hormones going crazy.

Abe and I got kicked off our health insurance. I owe them $112 because they didn't cover Abe while I was on maternity leave. It was larger, I paid half, didn't see an invoice in the mail and never heard anything from them. Then I went to the pedi and was told we have no coverage. I checked with the state office today and I can't get us back on until June. Luckily another Nestie works for my health insurance co. and is trying to help me out. I can't have Abe without health insurance. OH, and the person I am supposed to contact for the state won't answer my emails and when I call her voicemail...it is fvcking full. WTF.

My second vent: I coordinated training to 100 plumbers yesterday. I stayed at the training until 10:30 (in Orono) and came back to the office so I could pump at least twice during the day. I got an email from uppers at the trainers office and he told me I HAVE to stay the full day. I wrote back and told him no, cause I'm a breast feeding mother and I refuse to pump in a bathroom. I bet that made his face red.

Dink.

Re: My Shittty Day Vent

  • Sorry you are having such a craptastic day!!!!
  • Wait, you never received notice from them telling you that your policy was being terminated?  That is pretty shitty, and I am pretty sure against the law!  I am glad that a Nestie connection is helping you out!

As for the d-lord training dude, I think you gave him a great reason for not being able to stay and if he gives you a hard time about it, again, against the law!  Perhaps he needs his own training.

  • Ugh, I'm so sorry about that! I'm glad she's helping you out! That can be so incredibly stressful.
  • That just sucks! I don't see how they can do that without notice :(

    All of this, and hugs!!

  • I am pretty sure that what they are doing re: insurance is not okay.  Did you add him to your plan within 30 days of his birth? Or did he never have coverage to begin with?  I am sorry you are frustrated.  I'd march myself right into the HR person's office and demand guidance.  Since he is a life qualifying event you shouldn't have to wait to get him coverage.  Effers.

    Hang in there! xoxoxo

  • Anthem is anxious to get me back...of course they want my money! I just have to get the state to OK it...which is where I am stuck.

I am going to tell that taking insurance from a 10 month old is like killing a kitten (OK..I won't really say that).

  • I agree with pps-- a lot of this sounds not only sketchy, but also illegal. They have NO idea what kind of punk-rock Mama Bear they are dealing with if they think you won't be fighting this until they make it right!

Still, my heart goes out to you for having to deal with this crap.

You've paid your premiums through your check without a gap in coverage correct? Not paying a medical bill does not equal termination of coverage.

I am wondering if the state office messed up...

This is exactly what I was thinking.

  • I owe money because of a "payroll error" made by the state of maine. Says it right on the letter saying they were going to cancel the coverage (that they copied for me today since I missed my copy).
  • That's a HR/Payroll error- not your error.  I'd fight this tooth and nail.

    How frustrating!

  • That is awful and awful.  You don't mess with a mama's health insurance!!  It sounds like a huge wrong error, so I don't doubt it will get sorted out, but I'm sorry you have to deal with that stress.

  • Ugh, I kind of want to punch someone for you.  Stay strong!
  • Oh wow- what a craptactical day- so sorry! I agree on the insurance front, and would be fighting the hell out of the whole situation, hopefully you have some resolution soon.

I really wish I could've seen the guy's face when he read the part about you needing to leave to pump- priceless. Hang in there love!

  • It really bothers me when I have to do the legwork to sort out other people's mistakes.  Especially when the mistake is MAJOR and affect's the welfare of me or people I love.  I'm sorry you're dealing with this.
