Teen Mom

I just watched last night's episode, anyone still watch this?

Maci's extensions look ridiculous, she's CRAZY to even consider having another baby, I really hope she stays in school and does better than she did last year (I understand a kid takes up a lot of time, but I don't understand how/why she missed so many classes??).  Ryan is an idiot.  He doesn't deserve to have Bentley half the time considering he goes out and doesn't even spend time with Bentley/take care of him when it's his weekend to have him.  It made me sad when they were fighting at the truck in front of Bentley.
And I want to take Bentley's pacifier away from him.

Farrah cracks me up, thinking she'll get some awesome job and instantly be successful since she has her Associate's degree.  It's great she wants to get her Bachelor's but I don't think she'll be able to do it if she moves away from her parents--she doesn't realize how much help they've given her.  And where is she getting the money to move to Florida?

I hope Tyler does well in college and that Catelynn starts college in the fall like she plans to, I think it'll be hard since she's taking a break first.  I feel bad for her, dealing with body image insecurities suck.

Amber is a twatwaffle.  The end.

They get paid to be on the show, so considering this is their fourth (i think) season they've probably made quite a bit of money.  At least that's what I gather from the magazines I read at the beauty shop/grocery store.  I was thinking the same thing about how Macy affords to live in the place she does while not working.  I think on one of the episodes where she went to look at the place before moving in the realator said it was $1000 a month.
  • I've been watching on and off - and I completely agree with everything you said. Especially the Amber being a twatwaffle part. Ugh.

When Maci said she wanted another kid, I was like Huh?. Yeesh.

That's true, I forget about them being paid for the show.  Ugh.

  • I didn't like Maci's extensions at first, but I kind of like them now!

Farrah's parents are going to pay for her to live in FL. Duh! I know they get paid for the show, but it's not a TON ... right? Wasn't there an article recently that said it was $50-60k/year?

I'm almost to the point where I'm going to fast forward through Amber's segments, she is borderline unbearable.

And I do feel bad for Catelynn and her insecurities, but I think her excuse of "I had a baby" isn't a good one anymore. Her baby is, what, almost 2? Yeah...

    <--- JudgeyMcJudgerson.

  • Did anyone else notice a 2nd car seat in the back of Ryan's truck....?

HA! That's true, I don't keep up with the ages of the babies very well, apparently Lol

And $50-60k/year is twice what I make (sad, but true) so that is quite a bit of money for these girls to be making, IMO.

Totally not knocking $50k/year... just saying it's not like they're making $100k/episode ya know?

  • Ok, I just watched it last night.

Maci was really rubbing me the wrong way asking Bentley if he wanted to stay with her instead of going with Ryan.  Maci may not agree with Ryan going out when he has Bentley, but it's his time and if he chooses to leave him with his parents instead of spending time with him, so be it, it's none of her business.  At least his parents are getting time with Bentley.

I did notice the two carseats in Ryan's truck.  Surely he wasn't stupid enough to get some other chick pregnant too.  But, you would think Maci would be talking about it on the show. Hmm

Farrah and her mother are both some kind of crazy.

It seems like Tyler may be outgrowing Caitlynn, which is sad.

This is a good way to put it.

I noticed the second carseat, too.  Very odd.  Also, did I hear her wrong or did Farrah tell Sophia that one day she'll have braces too?  Who says that to a 2 year old, she's such a nut.

She's nutty, but I'm not sure why this makes her so. I already know my son will need braces (as confirmed by two dentists). He's interested in my braces and asks about them so I don't think it's weird to try to help a little kid relate to something new.

I disagree with this. 1) they have no legal agreement so she has no obligation to forgo time with her kid for anyone other than his dad 2) the grandparents don't have custody. If he can't fulfill his job as a parent, I don't see why the kid gets to be an object to pass around as he pleases 3) parenting with 2 sets of parents is hard enough, without adding a third to try to involve in decisions, rules, consistency, etc for the kid.

    1) I don't think the lack of legal agreement has anything to do with it because if she begins to deny Ryan of the visitation they agreed upon with the mediator, he will take her to court and likely get a similar visitation schedule.

    2) I understand that the grandparents don't have custody, but the way he fulfills his job as a parent is not really for Maci, you or I, or anyone to decide (aside from abuse of course).  If I were Maci, I'd be thanking God that he does live with his parents and has their help with Bentley because who knows what Ryan would do without them around.

    3) Agreed, but it seems like Ryan pretty consistently leaves Bentley with his parents.Stick out tongue

  • Oh it's definitely up to maci to decide what constitutes proper care for her kid and who she wants to share his time with as log as she has sole legal custody. I'm not so sure Ryan would get the same agreement from a judge given his history of consistently passing the kid off to his parents instead of providing care himself. If my custody arrangement specified my son had time allotted with his father and never actually spent that time with his father, I would consider goig back to court to pursue full custody.

That makes sense, but she's only ~2 right? That seems really young to be able to tell whether or not she'll need braces.

If you were awarded full custody, would you then in turn give the paternal grandparents/family visitation out of your time (assuming they're good people)?

I don't think that Ryan is never spending time with him.  I think the show is highlighting when he is going out for the drama factor.  We only see an edited hour a week who knows what these people's lives are really like all of the time.  Also, I'm sure Ryan's mother pushes to take care of Bentley since Ryan is young and male.

I'm not defending Ryan's parenting skills by any means.  I think the whole thing that put me off was Maci trying to manipulate Bentley into not wanting to go with Ryan.

Agreed. If I were in that situation, I'd be p!ssed that my kid wasn't spending time with their dad during his visitation time.

I probably wouldn't set up any formal, regularly occurring visitation, but I would work with them to make sure they had the chance to maintain a relationship with my son as long as it wasn't a huge burden and they weren't doing anything to alienate my kid from me (like talking badly about me in front of my son or whatever).

I 100% agree that anyone putting their kid in the middle of grown up disputes or making them pick a parent gets my complete and full judgment.

That makes sense, but she's only ~2 right? That seems really young to be able to tell whether or not she'll need braces.
If she has all of her teeth, a dentist should be able to gauge the overcrowding situation already (and that's often genetic as well). I've already put $2k into my kid's dental work and he's not yet 4, so ...

  • We watched it tonight.  If Farrah leaves Sophia, I'm going to be in shock.  I wouldn't be able to leave my child to go to school and "grow up".  I think she should pursue her BA, but damn...leave your kid in a completely different state with your mom that you got in a fist fight with last season?  She will have only thought she had control issues with her if she does that...Farrah's mom will get all hazy on the boundary lines again and make Sophia her daughter, not Farrah's.  B!tch be crazy.

As far as Maci goes, I think the extensions are hideous.  Honestly, I've never seen extensions on someone that I've thought it looked fantastic.  The top half of the hair is 2X as thick as the bottom--That sh!t isn't ever going to look right.

Bentley does well with Ryan because his parents are involved and loving.  I would be concerned for my child's happiness, and if that means that he sees his Mimi twice a week then so be it.  At least I would know that he was being cared for by people who wanted to be with him.  I never really saw where Bentley was upset at having to go with Ryan though.  That just seemed kind of dramatic to me.  Yeah, the kid's been with you for four days straight.  He's gotten attached and turned into a momma's boy.  Of course he isn't going to be jumping up and down to leave.  That's a hard transition regardless of whether Bentley enjoys being with Ryan or not.

  • I can definitely attest that toddlers will cry and resist the swap between parents (in both directions) and that it is no indication of whether or not they love and enjoy time with both parents. It's called being a toddler and not being able to look beyond what they want to do right this second.
