I am planning on getting James a Kindle for his birthday in November. Amazon has two: $139 and $114 which includes special offers. I don't get it. So the cheaper one has like commercials on it or something?

TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.
Re: Kindle
Basically - Receive special offers and sponsored screensavers that display on the Kindle screensaver and on the bottom of the home screen?they don't interrupt reading.
I would find it annoying.

This is my actual question. Thanks.

That.
I was given the regular wi-fi Kindle for my birthday last December, but if the Kindle with special offers option had been available, I would have wanted that. Save $25 and get special deals? Yes, please! I don't understand why people would not want that. The screensavers on the regular Kindle are not customizable, and some are downright creepy. I see no reason not to go the special offers route.
Also, the 3G version is nice, but 3G access is unnecessary for most people. I would not spend the extra $50 there. And finally, Nook Color is nice, but is not an e-reader in the truest sense. It's good for someone who also wants to read websites, but most people I know got their Nooks/Kindles purely as book readers. The color version strains the eyes just as much as a computer screen, so it's not the best option for people who plan to read it for hours.
