Newport Restaurant Recs

I feel like a ton of you have been to Newport. I'd like a restaurant rec please. This is sort of a mini anniversary trip so I'd like to have one nice meal out for dinner. DH loves seafood. I hate it but will eat pretty much anything chicken or beef related. Maybe around $30 a plate or better yet a BYOB?

Thanks.

Re: Newport Restaurant Recs

  • Because I took Mr.D to Newport for his birthday, we also did a special dinner out.  I was debating between 22 Bowens and The Mooring.  We ended up going to 22 Bowens because he was in the mood for steak.  We had a really nice time and the food was really good but I thought it was a tad overpriced.

Looking at The Mooring's menu, they have the typical landlubber meals such as chicken and steaks.

  • Thanks! I'll look up both of them.

  • The Red Parrot.  Not super fancy for anything, but it's really cute and has that beachy vibe.  They have this sandwich called the lobster BLT... oh my.. sooooo good.  They have plenty of non-seafood options.
  • The Black Pearl is a standard from what I understand. It had big portions but I thought the dining room was way too close for comfort.

We enjoyed Benjamin's on Thames Street but that was more of a basic lobster/seafood dinner but very affordable and more casual.

The Clark Cooke House has great views of the water from the upstairs dining area and some more unique items on the menu.
