Pfaff Quilt Expression Owners

The 4.0 is one of the two machines I've been considering upgrading to and I've received an email from my local shop with a special offer because an expo is in town.  I'm trying to decide if it is actually a good deal or if it is just okay.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for this machine?  Did it come with the quilting box?  If you don't want to post it on here, can you PM me?

I'm having a seriously hard time with the amount of money, but it could just be that I haven't been sewing THAT long and I had no idea machines were that much money.

Me, me, me! And I looove my sewing machine. Like, I'm not sure if I'll ever want a new one.

Anyway, we paid $2100 after tax. The price was pretty insane to me, but we had some help and I probably would have limped along as long as I had to until I could afford to buy this machine.

I'm not sure what the quilting box is, but I guess I didn't get it.

I love my Pfaff machines. I don't have a quilt expression, I make apparel. I've always been able to talk them down quite a bit on the machines. Always ask is that best you can do? Then they will say..... I have to ask the manager.  You say great! I want to talk to the manager. When the manager will talk for a bit and be like this is the lowest price I can offer you. (Which will be lower than the list by a few hundred) You say: Hmmmm........well what if I buy the floor model? Works ever freakin time got $500 off my serger that was listed at $1500.

I second doing some bargaining. Take someone along that will help, if you have to. (We always take my mom car shopping! lol) I couldn't bargain on my price because it was a trunk show deal type of thing. I tried.

this is a trunk show kind of deal too (some sort of expo i guess), but the machine is only ??1700, which makes me think it is a pretty good deal, but doesn't include the quilting box (which has the free motion foot, the 1/4" piecing foot and some other feet as well as the glass extension table) which would be necessary for the quilting i like to do, so i'm looking at about 2k.

Hm, mine came with a ton of feet including the 1/4" foot (which is my favorite, btw) and the free motion foot, but not the glass extension table. All of the little slots in my feet tray were filled. I'd say it is still a pretty good deal even if you have to buy a couple feet.
