when would you pack?

We were supposed to close tomorrow.  Our file didn't get a USDA update today like they were supposed to give so we don't know for sure where USDA is at, just that it was sent on 9/2.  Everything is good to go, title, water/septic, appraisal, etc.

I assume we will close next week..I don't want to pack and then have it delayed, but at the same time, I don't want to have to pack overnight.  We are excited and want to move ASAP.

How soon did you pack in reference to your closing date/scheduled closing date?

DD2(2.5): Late term premie due to PTL, low fluid & IUGR, Reflux, delayed visual maturation, compound heteroygous MTHFR, PFAPA, Bilateral kidney reflux, Transient hypogammaglobulinemia

Re: when would you pack?

  • My closing date isn't supposed to be until Oct. 7. I've already started packing :)
  • lol.

I just know that if I would of already had stuff packed & our water would have failed I probably would have went home and kicked boxes lol.

So i'm afraid if we have another setback I will throw them or something.

I probably should pack though since it will be next week.

    Hate packing.

  • We were living out of storage for 8 months, but to go into storage we packed the week ahead of time.  I went through everything so that I wasn't packing useless things.

  • I started packing as soon as I put an offer in the house. I packed unnecessary stuff, like bedding and stuff on the walls. Its just me packing the whole house, so I decided to get done early. And I figured, even if I didn't get this one, I'd be moving somewhere?
    The pups!

If something falls through financing wise, we won't be moving, so I guess that's why I'm apprehensive.  The house we are in now is family owned so we don't "have" to move it's just super old & not something I want the girls to remember they lived in & we would rather own our own place.

It's just me packing too and i procrastinate.  I was still packing the evening we moved back to VA from WV.

I think as soon as I have a 'date' I will be good to go.

  • I started packing as soon as we knew the seller accepted our offer (it was only a little over 3 weeks between then and when we closed...super quick, I know). There was a lot of stuff we just didn't need for those 3 weeks (extra towels, bedding, pictures on walls, some extra kitchen stuff, etc).

Even though I thought I was ahead of the game, I still ended up rushing at the end. I'd suggest getting started ASAP.

    Life is good today.
  • I cannot stand to have my stuff in boxes, so I pack 1 - 2 days before moving.

    lol this is me!

It just bothers me to have boxes everywhere.  Oh well.  I'm taking some stuff we don't need and donating to today & then I guess I will get started this weekend.

The other crap thing is we're only moving SEVEN miles.  SO MUCH WORK!

  • We did one room a day up until settlement. The day before settlement we packed up the kitchen, and just left disposable stuff to get us through the last day.

Though I would recommend doing the kitchen in 2 days! It took us 4 hours that night to pack up JUST the kitchen, and it was a small kitchen.
