Noah's Ark Baby Shower decorating ideas
Hi everyone! I'm helping to plan a very large baby shower for my SIL who just adopted a beautiful baby boy. Literally 80 invitations are going out this weekend, and they expect 60-70 guests! I'm helping to plan decorations. Since the new parents are decorating the room in a Noah's Ark theme, we are doing the shower the same. We have a large room in their church that is stark white.
I need any and all ideas! I have a "two-by-two" banner for the food table and a banner that says his name. We are reusing another SIL's hurricane lamps from their wedding, but I don't know if we should put candles in there or something unique and creative.
Any ideas?
TIA!!

Re: Noah's Ark Baby Shower decorating ideas
Hi! I would decorate with rainbows as much as possible. I always think of the rainbow God delivers as a sign of his promise to never flood the Earth again.
Even if the tablecloths, napkins etc. are all a different color the room will look like a rainbow. (One table could be red, another orange etc. Maybe even do a rainbow cake etc. (I've seen cupcake and cake recipes like that). Can find one for you...
HTH
Good Luck!

In my experience, church halls usually have bright florecent lighting, so I don't know that candles would make sense. How about a fall touch with pinecones inside and leaves around them? (I guess it depends on the size of the lamps) Maybe you can spray paint the pinecones the colors of the nursery, blue and green for example.
As far as other decor, I'm a fan of things that do double duty:
Favor/Centerpiece: stacked clear boxes filled with animal crackers tied with a pretty ribbon.
Prize/Decor: simple vases with supermarket flowers (in shower colors) on the food table, cake table, gift table and sign-in table can be prizes for games.
Place settings/Momento/Favor: a 4x6 card with matching pen asking guests for advice for the new mom at each person's table.
HTH.
Love that theme.
From what a PP said, I'd go light on the whole rainbow thing. You don't want it to end up looking like a gay pride parade lol. Plus, you want this to look put together, not like a rainbow threw up all over the room.
I like what someone else about creatively using animal crackers...look at these adorable bags, set two types of animals side by side fill with the crackers!
My idea would be to play off that "perfect pair"/ "two by two" idea. Choose foods that just go hand in hand. Like a dessert bar with milk can cookies (they just go together!!) You can get veery small glasses and fill one of these with ice cold milk:
and then have the cookies places around. A really cute idea!
For centerpieces, I would try and do something involving water....for the flood. Like a large centerpiece bowl fill with water and then have floating candles in there. Have decorative rocks on the bottom of the vase and surrounding.Like this:
Maybe you could dye the water blue to make it more reflective of "the flood"
Good Luck!!
