Our chuppah (wedding canopy) is stepping out on us!
I was just checking online for inexpensive chuppah rentals in the DC area, because someone on another board was asking.
And what should I find on Craigslist but the chuppah I made for our wedding back in 2009! We sold it to another couple after our wedding. Apparently, that couple used it for their own wedding, then started renting it out to other couples. I'm thrilled that it has become a resource for local brides, because many of the chuppah rental options are really expensive. But it was still really odd to see an ad for something that I built.

How fun to see it's still in use!
I purchased a bunch of old mason jars for my wedding. I gave some away to my brother and mom for canning but kept about 150. They've been used for 4 weddings already. So far I know all but one bride who's used them but I've considered trying to rent them for a small fee. I'm just not sure it's worth the work.
Before they get passed around any further, I want to get a picture from each wedding of the jars and the bride to put in the boxes with the jars just for fun... who knows how many times they could be used!
MY BLOG!
munkii: Making another one would definitely not be worth it for me. I was amazed I got that one to look halfway decent, given that a) I hadn't sewn for 40 years, b) there was no pattern, and c) it involved 8 foot French seams! And I definitely don't want to get involved in the hassle of renting it.
However, I'm thrilled that someone else is renting it. The main reason I made it in the first place was that the only ones we saw locally and liked were $400 or more to rent. I'm happy to have provided an economical alternative.
