American Girl book question

do you think a three year old could/would be interested in having an AG book read to them?  A chapter (or less) at a time, of course.  I've not read one so I'm not sure of how advanced they are with plot lines, etc.

Re: American Girl book question

  • I was 3 & my sister was 5 when my Mom started reading them to us. I'm a huge fan to this day.  Also, I was around that age when she started reading me the Little House in the Prairie series.

  • I am no help on the books, but it wouldn't hurt to try. If she isn't interested, hang on for a bit. She's pretty advanced though!

I have no idea how I got on the American Girl catalog list. The last couple of nights, I have read it before bed and looked wistfully at all of the adorable dolls and doll accessories.

Now back to my regularly scheduled programming of sports, sports, sports! I wouldn't change that for the world, but dang, girl stuff is fun.

  • Sarah turned five in June.  Since Christmas I've read probably a dozen American Girl chapter books out loud to her.  We've read Kit's entire series, including her short stories and one mystery.  We also ready Lady Margaret's Ghost which is a Felicity mystery.  Also Julie's and Kanani's first books.

I think it probably depends a lot on the child.  Elizabeth (who is 3) has a hard time paying attention to the chapter books and prefers the less sophisticated toddler books. But Sarah adores AG and can't get enough.  I'd definitely try it and see what happens.
